Originally this was slightly more complicated, but I've changed it so that there will be two recipients: one will get Witcher 2, the other will get the $5.99 game. Okay? Okay! :D

Why the odd spelling? Because that is the way I used to say it when I was little. :P

So yes! I am giving away stuff to two lucky winners!

First: a copy of The Witcher 2.

As to best gaming related memory, right now it has to be back in 2001 when I used to go to my mates house right around the corner and play worms armageddon until the wee hours. there would usually be a bunch of us and various random people from time to time as well.

It's probably the only time in my life I found gaming to be a truly social thing, without the nastiness of over competetiveness and the arguements that go with it. Worms is one of those games - win or lose its still funny as hell!

(In for the Witcher 2 but if I lose the Witcher 2 can I still get the second option?)


My most memorable moment was Metroid Prime.

And I everything about that game is amazing, so much atmosphere and the music was fitting and the world felt immersive and rich.

Oh those Chozo Ghosts were horrifying and the scariest of all was encountering Metroid Prime itself which I though was a face which was creepy look at it:

Me and my brother were so spooked that my brother was always drawing that hand from the concept art because it was that scary.

It was actually when I was younger. I saw my grandparents on my mom's side for the first time one christmas many years ago. Me being a little kid, I told my parents that I wanted a nintendo, a NES, but I told them nintendo. I went to bed that christmas eve and for some reason I was unable to sleep at all so I just stayed in bed all night. In the morning I got up, and went to open my presents, yada yada, only to find out I didn't get the NES I wanted.. instead they mistook my words to mean the game boy, and that's what I got. At first I was extremely disappointed but as I played it on the long car ride back, I began to love it. That 6 hour car ride home went by lightning fast. I played tetris, mario land, and a odd little bomberman clone-like game called atomic punk.

Heheheh! That's a good one!

Already have The Witcher 2 (although I have not played it, due to my old and ancient gaming laptop being incapable of running it), so this is for the 2nd price: a game up to USD5.99.

My favorite videogame-related memories? I've got a few, so this is a random one of them: playing House of the Dead 2 (http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/house-of-the-dead-2) together with my then girlfriend, who is now my wife, for many hours. It was quite a rare occasion, because normally my wife does not really play videogames. But that one game just clicked with her, and she even proved to be a much, much, much better gamer at it than me :-)

I have fond memories of "Sanitarium"... just walking around those creepy atmospheres, talking to those creepy kids... makes me wish every day was Halloween!

No, even better - The Bard's Tale 3 (I think), "The Thief of Fate." Ran it on my Apple IIe, would stay up all night playing it with my best friend. We discovered a glitch that let us fall back into a room and kill a boss over and over, racking up points and gold. Ahh, the good ol' days.

My favorite videogame memory.. Hmm probably playing gabriel knight: sins of the fathers during a snow storm :)

So many memories from the early days of modem/lan play...Rise of the Triad heatseeking missles, the creepiness of Blood (along with the voodoo doll), Duke Nukem of course (worked at Micro Center at the time and when the store closed, about a dozen of us would get on the stores pc's and play for hours). A bunch of us taking our huge towers and monitors to one house to play all night and weekend with a variety of games. But the memory I'd go with is...

If you guys remember the original GTA, it was top down graphically. Was playing versus a buddy of mine in his basement. We started on opposite sides of the city and usually we would just make a beeline to each other with the best vehicles we could find on the way there.

This time I stayed in my area as he started to make his way towards me. I carjacked pretty much every vehicle on my side and started making a blockade of sorts all across the street, knowing the route he was going to take. As I was finishing up and was waiting for him, he kept asking aloud why wasn't I moving. I stayed quiet. But I built a "fort" of cars up and down the street and stood on the opposite side from where he would be coming.

So, I timed it such that as he was making that last turn into my street, I set off a rocket launcher I think it was towards the vehicle closest to me. It set of a chain reaction thru the other vehicles with each one blowing up in succession. He's speeding right towards it and as his voice is going "oh %@^&", he's trying to brake and turn and get away from it but its too late and the last explosion hits the vehicle he crashes into. He gets out of the car and his little body is running around on fire before he falls dead trying to get some shots at me all the while.

It was a thing of beauty and was one of those things that was only going to work once, if it worked at all as the element of surprise was the key there. We tried similar things later on but they never worked since we always knew when to expect it (great explosions though). Great memories playing that game multiplayer and we still bring up that particular moment every so often and have a good laugh. Well, ok, its usually me who brings it up. :)

I'd be hard pressed to pick a favourite gaming moment, but here's one I remember fondly:

It was my first playthrough of Riven. I had almost run out of new things to check out, and I knew that I was going to have to actually solve a puzzle soon in order to progress. Trouble was, I was stuck. Deep within a cave, I successfully baited some kind of animal trap, hoping that the results would somehow lead me to some new area.

The trap came up. It snapped open. A little frog stared up at me, apparently as confused and disappointed to see me as I was to see it. It chirped a few times, and then casually hopped off the trap and back into the crevice from whence it came.

"What the hell?", I thought. "What did that accomplish?" Then it occurred to me that I had heard that sound before. There were little stones with Rivenese numbers scattered throughout the game, and one of them had made this sound when I rolled it around in its socket. I took out my notepad, scrawled "[symbol] = Frog" on it, set the pad down, and stared at it intensely as though trying to burn the solution into the page with the power of my mind.

Nothing. I had no idea what significance this had. I sighed, quit the game, and shut the computer off for the day.

The rest of the day, I walked around muttering to myself. "Frog. Frog.... Frog? Frog." Nothing. Finally, having exhausted my puzzling skills, I wandered into the living room where my family was watching some evening television. Shrugging my shoulders, I sat down to rot my brain for a while.

About half an hour into the show, the solution suddenly came unbidden into my mind. To the general amazement of my family, I leapt up off the couch, stood in the middle of the room as though transfixed, shouted "Of course! Frog!" and turned and ran out of the room.

...I had a bit of explaining to do later on...

I do not have the Witcher 2, but I honestly don't see me playing it for various reasons... So, I'm in for only the $5.99 game option :)

My favorite videogame related memory... This is a tough one. I know MarioKart Doubledash has been a favorite, and I have so many memories with so many different people with that game! It's one of the few games that my whole family enjoyed playing together.

Another memory is with Goldeneye 007 for Nintendo 64... When I was training for Nationals for Freestyle Wrestling, a group of us on the Minnesota team hooked up the game. One of the guys had been running his mouth, bragging about how undefeatable he was, and went on for hours. I hadn't said anything at all, throughout it. When we started playing, myself and another guy continously whooped him to the point he was pouting. That was fun :)

I also loved playing Aliens Vs Predator (the very first one) as a lan party. We would get together and play AVP, Halflife deathmatch, starcraft, and various other games. We'd all be in different rooms and someone would shout swear words when they got sniped and didn't expect it.

I also have fun memories playing games like Diablo 1 multiplayer with my dad. It was the first multiplayer online game we played.

One other memory was of a GOG game "Die by the sword"... I had my whole college floor playing it. One of the "coolest" things that happened to me in that game was when the enemy cut off my leg at the hip... so, I picked up my own leg and beat the enemy to death with it. Probably one of the most morbid things I've ever done in a game...

elder scroll oblivion, when martin septim scarifices himself and his last dialgoue everthing is upto me, all of sudden the whole game has a different form of lore and immersion for me, as if the every character mattered, and regretted killing everything character i could throughout my playthrough, hell even tried to kill martin , he just didnt die,

lol final battle i was fighting both side

My favorite video game memory is definitely from StarCraft. I had a group of guys I would play with and we had so much fun in 3v3 fastest maps. The best is when I would drop the enemy mineral lines with a high templar or a reaver and then we would just out macro them and send in tons of dragons and zealots. I also loved early zerg rush with hydras where you go all in. Gosh we had so much fun.

Some of my favorite gaming moments were probably when I spent many, many hours on the Commodore 64 with my brother. I remember playing Summer Games and Winter Games, BC's Quest for Tires, Squish 'em (can still hear the music for it), Dr. J and Larry Bird go One on One, etc. Those were some great times for sure.
