I recently got a Lenovo z500 Touch for a new work computer, and it came pre-installed with W8. I did not upgrade from W7 to W8 last year, as I was more than happy with how W7 performed, and I did not really know what to think about W8

But now.... I was at first a little skeptical to the whole new Metro thingy and the charms, and I might see how it may not be such a big improvement when you are mouse only, but on a touch screen the whole thing just comes together and it is running along singing and dancing.

The design is very intuitive, and as soon as I had the realization that metro is W8's start-button, it all fell into place. The whole touch interface is just a joy to use, and it is so much more intuitive and faster than using a mouse for many tasks (except when precision is key... too fat fingers....) As an interface, touch screen just makes so much more intuitive sense than a pointer and a mouse.

The OS itself is very fast, and I have had no problems at all with it so far. It was a little bit of acclimatization getting used to how it woks, but it is well worth it to stick it out, as it does make a lot more sense when it clicks.

Anyway, I am enjoying life right now, Superfrog is bloody brilliant and W8 turned out a lot better than expected.
that coming from you i take to hold a lot of water, thanks!
in fact i think your the first person who i respect who actually isnt cursing about it! :)

right now I really do not see why anyone would curse in the first place.... sure it is something new to learn, and it may not be what you expected, but I do think it is a genuine improvement and a step forward in the right direction.

I do think that computers and interfaces are getting better by being tactile and intuitive, there is a reason why iPads are used so much among elderly and kids, it just makes sense using them. I now understand more that this is also probably a correct way to go for PC's also. This do not mean throwing away mouses and keyboards, but letting it all work together as it does now on W8. I used the mouse just as much as the screen, and I do not longer notice when I switch over, I just use the right tool for the right task.

(like i will use the mouse to click inside this text to edit a mistake, but I use my finger to just click on the "post my message" button. This is not bad at all.)

But I must say, i do find myself using the screen more and more as I get used to it.

I've always maintained that Windows 8 is ideal... if you're using a touchscreen device. I think that the lack of desktop version was more down to them not caring (despite that being the market that's made them what they are) than because they actually believe that the mobile version is acceptable on desktops.

I use it without a touch screen and prefer it to 7. The mouse only thing though is superseded by the keyboard. Win + typing is pretty quick, along with other shortcuts.
