Longcat: To put this to rest, I have it on a reliable source that the source code for the original JMP game is gone, or at least they are unable to locate it at this time. Some effort has been made to re it in scummvm, but most of the puzzles are hardcoded so it's going to be a lot of work to implement. Don't expect this to be released on gog anytime soon.
Or at least don't expect some magical port. But then I don't think anyone was expecting that anyway.

If it's ever coming, it'll be emulated or they might manage Pegasus Prime through ScummVM if the rights manage to get sorted out.

http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=11186&sid=22068ef5e99f0509376617619f342d5c

It seems that because the game support is almost a source port, they need the permission. Hmm... if GOG negotiated a deal with the rightsholders to sell Pegasus Prime, that might provide the incentive for them to allow support included in ScummVM.

The rightsholders get money, the ScummVM team get to release the PP support and GOG gets a new game and completes the JP trilogy. Everybody wins!

Wishbone: 3) The source code most likely no longer exists, and even if it did, that's just too much work for a $6 game.
The original game (i.e. not Pegasus prime) and Turbo were made using Macromedia (sorry I mean Adobe...) Director, so IF somebody still has the original script it should be possible, with "minimal" effort, to upgrade it to a newer version version of Director that can run on modern system.

It will still requires some works but a lot less than if the game was made using native code.

EDIT: But of course if they manage to run Pegasus Prime on scummVM it would be even better.

You can easily watch let's play on youtube, it's not ideal but the first game is mostly an "interactive movie" anyway, at least it will fill you on the basic story that you will need to fully understand the subsequent games, especially the third one.

They need legal permission because the ScummVM implementation IS based on the original source code for the game. So yeah.

That's pretty much exactly what I said...
Well, to be exact, you said "almost" a source port.
but do you need to know the story of one to understand 2 and 3?

Yes, and for something to be almost a source port still means it is based on the source code. :P

Apparently 3 requires understanding of 1 and 2, not sure if 2 requires 1 so much.

Heads up - GOG has just added the first Journeyman game to its other two, so the trilogy is now complete: Journeyman Project 1: Pegasus Prime, Thanks for grokking this, GOG, so now I have the full trilogy without config hassles for current OS & hardware. Dang game is from Win 3.1 days. I wouldn't be a gamer today if not for Journeyman Project games - eons ago, my IT coworker talked me into trying a pc game called Journeyman Project 3 Legacy of Time (I liked history, scifi and visual art, so he knew that was going to work)... then on to Myst, Riven, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, and so on ... now he's up in heaven no doubt laughing, because over the years, I've become a collector of pc games and added rpg's to the mix. Sheesh! My buddy & Journeyman started it all. Much better stress relief than watching the news.
