stonebro: I'm having fun with it. The gameplay flows quite well. Enjoying it more than I enjoyed Path of Exile so far. Granted, I'm only a couple of hours in.

If you're so inclined, you can watch me play it over at twitch.tv:

That's a ringing endorsement given the quality of PoE.

Granted, I haven't played PoE since sometime in February.

Well, I suppose that requires some clarification.

Firstly the games artwork is quite superb and the enemies are very well designed visually. For me, it goes downhill rapidly from there. The game has the usual types of skill sets, Melee, Ranged and Magic, these skills are further enhanced by "rage" skills, Rage is a commodity that you build up in combat and when activated, it uses secondary skills to enhance your main skills and make them more powerful.

Now, that sounds pretty good on paper, but, of course, to offset that power, the game literally chucks hordes of enemies at you that it just becomes a chore to progress through the maps, You cross the map, then you will get attacked by enemies that are off screen and seem to have greater range than you, then you wind up backpeddling as you defeat them, when they are all dead, you progress a bit further, engage the enemy and backpedal til they are dead, then progress...rinse/repeat etc.

Some quests can be annoying, eg. there is a statue in the starter area that needs 3 gems, one of the gems is only found in a "one-shot" instances, so if you miss it, you cant complete the quest, so you go around scouring the maps trying to find the gem until you eventually ask on the forums where it is. The reward of that quest is a key, when you complete the first act, you are told..."If you leave this Act, you can never return"..., So you are left with this key, so you go back and scour the maps looking for a door or something to activate with it, eventually asking on the forum..."where is the door for this key?"....Oh, its for one of the later acts in the game.

So, I spent alot of time dicking around looking for stuff that wasnt there just on that one quest, another siad there were 4 bones in an area (worth 8 points to spend on your character), so i scoured the area and only found 2 in loot from dead enemies, getting pretty fed up, I asked on the forum, where are the bones...."Bone Relics can be obtained through defeating powerful enemies. You just need to find them hiding nearby somewhere"...kinda cryptic are decidedly unhelpful, I scoured the map and there were no enemies left, although the second bone I found was due to two mini bosses released after twirling a few frog statues around. But I never found anything I could activate to make other bosses appear, so I'm probably too stupid to play the game, but the mods aren't particularly helpful either, jesus if someone asks a question, give them a fucking answer not some cryptic BS, like i got.

Anyway, I went to the next area, which was very different in art style (Industrial City as opposed to pastoral/swamp), the city was cut up into bite-sized chunks, with more enemies per square foot than the previous area, but by this stage I had enough skills and had reset my builds with more game knowledge than I had at the start. But it was still the same, press forward, engage enemies, backpedal etc.

There comes a stage, where you have to clear some tunnels, as a precursor to a sort of hub defence minigame, kinda like in Riptide I guess, where you can place traps around a sort of isometric maze, but by then I just uninstalled it, I had lost the will to live at that stage, my tits had fallen off due to extreme boredom and it was more fun looking for them than playing this game.

BTW, regarding the 20 gigs, I'm of two minds about it, either the next two parts of the sequel are included and will be opened by buying "DLC" type keys to access it, or its just padded to 20 gigs so pirates wont bother their arse uploading it, either way, 20 gigs for about 20 hours of gameplay....I dont see the need for such a huge file tbh, its not on screengraphically.

Picked up Resident Evil Rev quite cheap on SimplyCDkeys, so heading into that now.

That kind of crap might make my "must collect everything" OCD flare up. I might give this a pass. I swear to Odin I need therapy to enjoy RPGs properly these days.
Yeah, if you are like that, it might be a problem, at least now somebody made a checklist of what you should have done before you leave the first area, so that might mitigate your problem somewhat :)
In the middle of Act two and still having fun blasting stuff left and right. Considering a hand crafted world the closest thing to this game would be Titan Quest, where most of the replayability would come from making different builds.

For me this game is closer to Diablo I and II than number three is and that's the best recommendation I can give (plus the price of 15$).
One of the more entertaining stuff was running into The Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog.
Holy necro thread!

Just some fun with the Neocore ladies and gents.

And don't forget that Van Helsing II is near.

Yeah, i should drop that question in their next stream. The price on steam is about right for GOG, too. Game offers quite a bit of gampelay for that price.
