I must be an exception to the rule. I love to drive and actually enjoy my 45 minute commute. Then again I did find ways to make it more enjoyable like getting a car that's comfortable and fun to drive, loading up with audio books and audio lectures to listen to, and finally realizing that if I'm 10 minutes late because of abnormally high traffic that it doesn't really matter because I'm still amazing at my job.
People need to just realize that a commute doesn't have a be a time loss it can be a part of the day that you fill with other things that you'd want to do anyways. :)

At my old job, 20 minutes commute was norm for me but I pass the time by listening to the music on radio. Also, this allow me to come up with some of the stuff for the projects, which happen to me few times.
Still, the commute can be grueling at the times.

I've got less than a five minute commute to my job :~) It's a pleasant walk up the hill and through the trees to my neighbors land. The down side is that there is not near enough work. Gonna have to find a supplement which will likely require a freeway commute :~( Though perhaps I should get serious about my T-Shirt business so I can work at home :~)

I prefer long commutes. It gives you this time-buffer to relax in as you switch between work and home.
