I'm in (but #1 entry never wins, so this is just a "giveaway filler").

I spend my free time on games and movies (and more then I should on this forums also XD) so even though I have nothing against book I just don't have time for them in 24h day. So I have probably never read any horror novel but if I'll ever start it will be with one of Clive Barker's books.

I barely read books, as i see computer games (especially adventure games) to be just like interactive books which is alot more fun then just reading as you actually have some control. And the rare occasion i do read a book it's stuff like Fight Club or CSI.
Beside with my study i'm already reading enough as it is.

I'm a great admirer of the sublime short stories of Montague Rhodes James and as such I highly recommend reading the excellent collection Count Magnus and Other Ghost Stories: The Complete Ghost Stories of M.R. James (volume 1).

Other personal favourite authors of the uncanny include Edgar Allan Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Nathaniel Hawthorne, James Hogg, Sir Walter Scott, Rhoda Broughton & Emily Brontë (Wuthering Heights is heavily infused with gothic horror).

I have shared my favorite horror story in another thread, so forgive me if anyone reading this finds it repetitive. I grew up reading the works of Edgar Allen Poe, so I could easily pick from his stories blindly and still give a true answer. There would not be very many prolific horror writers in history if Poe had not paved the way with his masterful use of the macabre. The Masque of the Red Death, however, is the story I usually list above the rest of his works as its plot and the events in the story are so moody and intense. To me, there is no adversary more frightening than disease.

Never read a horror novel. In terms of how I grew up, my interests in reading was almost purely non-fictional, educational or hobby based. This is how I wind up as an electrical engineering student with study in wood working, metal working, cooking, geology, videogames, astronomy, leather working, fencing, sword fighting, historical study in weaponry and armory, ect.

Thanks once again for the opportunity Coelocanth please count me in as well as I would really like to try this game, I never really read a lot of horror novels that I remember not because I was scared but just more into suspense/thriller genre as well as crime novels growing up. I read a lot of John Grisham, Jeffrey Archer and even from Stephen King I enjoyed The Green Mile a lot more then his horror short stories and novels.

I am not into too much horror, however I do love Edgar Allen Poe and H P Lovecraft. Of all their works, gonna go with The Pit and the Pendulum for Poe and The Color Out of Space for Lovecraft.
