I'm all for this. I'd be all for 60FPS. Fuck James Cameron, for trying to push higher frame rates because he can get his dumbass movies out on 3D, but I have no problem with smoother, sharper image. I think it'll look great on The Hobbit.

Reservations about this use of the Hobbit IP aside, will the FPS genre even still be the same by the time they're putting out the 40th game? It'll probably be some kind of holodeck shit by then.

I'm not for this, but obviously it's a purely aesthetic thing. I even think that games can look better with a low framerate, to some extent. Shadow of the Colossus is not going to be near as cool when it's running smoothly on the PS3.

I look forward to it. I've seen a few movie action scenes that are impossible to follow, this might improve it.

Yeah yeah, It's awesome and shit.... except for the fact that the movie will be in 3D. And I'm starting to fucking HATE this latest Hollywood craze over 3D. In the weekend I saw Thor, and I had another proof of the fact that the 3D effect is just an annoying gimmick that adds NOTHING to how awesome or dumb a film is.

Furthermore, the Blu-ray standard doesn't say anything about 48 FPS in Full HD so I won't see this advanced format on my home HDTV either. In short: it's useless....

Son of a bitch. I'm pretty sure Blu Ray can handle up to 60 FPS. Or else it wouldn't be very useful for the PS3.

I beg your pardon? No it can't. PS3 resolutions have nothing to do with the Blu-ray video standard....

The way a game generates frames is quite different from the way frames are embedded on a Blu-ray disc for movies.

I tried playing a game in 3D on a 42" and my brain started to throb after 10 minutes. I am so glad Christopher Nolan said No! for the Batman movies.

I think he expressed disgust at the movie being in 3D. It's just like saying this:

Person A: "Did you hear about this movie? It's only going to be in 3D."
Person B: "GODDAMNIT!"

They usually have regular releases a little later in my theatres, I believe. I don't know how that effects the quality.
