If you loved Ocean Software games then check this Kickstarter out to raise funds to produce a high quality book about them : http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/47744432/the-history-of-ocean-software-by-retro-fusion?ref=home_location
Hmm, tempting. Very tempting indeed.
Some good perks on there!

Not surprised ;-)
Ocean made some neat games. Not sure why but Last Rites always sticks out to me.
Why does nobody make a good movie tie-in any more?!

Was that sarcasm?

Most movie tie-in games have always been crappy, and Ocean's were no exception. The only really good one of theirs I can recall was Batman: The Movie.

As for the kickstarter, I'm not thrilled about the way the tiers are arranged. I'm only really interested in the book and a poster of the Wizball artwork, but while I can get the book at the £25 tier, I have to go all the way up to £100 to get just an A3 poster.
I always get nostalgic when I see Ocean logo. I gotta think about this, as the hardcover book could be fun.
At least the price is fair this time. The Sensible Software book was extremely expensive at (I believe) £30 for a digital copy.

Depends on the version. The C64 version of Batman: The Movie wasn't that great, and Navy SEALS was a bit crappy on any platform, as was Total Recall.

But then we had classics like Jurassic Park, Hook, Lethal Weapon, the isometric Batman game, The Addams Family and Robocop 3. All very good games indeed.
Well, I wouldn't call them "very good" but rather "pretty good for movie tie-ins". Movie games suffer because they have to try and incorporate as much of the movie as possible based on some early footage or just a script. There's quite a few movie games which look nothing like the movie because they had no visuals to work from.

I think the best movie game, was Blade Runner because it came years after the movie. In fact, the best movie games are those who don't follow a movie's plot but simply use a movie's setting I find - TIE Fighter, Terminator Future Shock, etc.
Thanks for sharing, this looks cool.

@Red_Avatar Blade Runner was awesome.

My most-played Ocean game was Match Day, the best football/soccer game on the ZX Spectrum.

Umm...what? since when movie tie-in's were ever good?
Very interested in this kickstarter, they did so many games on the Spectrum & C64 at the time.

Honourable mentions :

Platoon
Paralax
Wizball
Head over Heels
Gutz
Lost Patrol

They did so many games back then, had most of them on tape. They were also paired with Imagine who tended to do most of the coin op conversions (Ocean did do a few licenses)
That kind of depends, really. There were some good ones - I loved the Predator one. Batman (1989) was great.
Aliens US was annoyingly addictive.

True there were clunkers, but mostly they were ones I avoided as not liking the franchise they were based on ^_^
