The Guild 2 - Pirates of The High Seas says it is a stand alone expansion pack for The Guild 2. DRM Free for $2.50

But does anyone know if that game is related in any way to The Guild 2 - Pirates of the European Seas Add-on Pack for the Guild 2? By "related in any way" I mean are they the same damn thing?

If so, how does that work??

It's the same game. It's called Pirates of the High Seas on US and Pirates of the European Seas on Europe.

Thanks. So I assume Steam only sells the European version? And I further assume that one is a stand alone too?? I read the page, and it just says add-on, but it also doesn't say anywhere that The Guild 2 is required (which I think it usually does when applicable).

Just confusing, but I thought they were probably the same when I read what each one includes and the wording was almost identical.

Funny that Steam would only have the European version though.

Thank you for answering. +1 whenever folks answer my dumb questions.

The expansion is indeed standalone, as is the game's other expansion, Renaissance. As for the name's discrepancy, I'm not sure. While ShinyLoot refers to it as the Pirates of the High Seas, its description mentions the game's European name Pirates of the European Seas.

From what I gather, it seems that ShinyLoot is the only place to call it Pirates of the High Seas. Gamersgate and GreenManGaming call it Pirates of the European Seas, presumably because its current publisher (Nordic Games) is Austrian.
