frostcircus: Incidentally, according to my country's laws, I may have committed an illegal act. I remember a while back a petrol station made a mistake with their pricing, and those who took advantage of it were told that if they didn't seek to make reparations, they could be charged.
avatar
Aliasalpha: Yeah but in order for them to bring charges, they'd have to have the petrol as evidence, the "criminals" could just destroy the evidency by driving to the police station to turn themselves in

The evidence was the CCTV footage. I am just going from memory here though.
edit: bansama, see my post edit a few above yours. Also, hahaha - I love the irony that we're covered by US law when this is something that only people who don't live in the US can take advantage of :D :D :D

bansama: It arrived just fine =) Downloading it now. I guess I should have just linked to my profile so for future reference (or just to add as a Friend), it's http://steamcommunity.com/id/mc

Good stuff. Oddly I seem to be on your friends list but you didn't seem to show up in mine when I was buying as a gift, weird...
Wow, the laws of NZ are well... funky.
The only annoyance with Japanese law we have right now is the Statue of Limitations for "heinous" crimes. And the resulting bickering on whether or not it should be abolished. As right now, anyone who manages to commit murder then go unprosecuted for 15 years (IIRC) can then no longer be prosecuted for it.
But yeah, as Steam is based in the US, it's US law that us used. I'm sure they state as such somewhere in their legal blurb.

Maybe it automatically does it when you get a gift on the theory that enemies rarely give you presents that don't explode. Ahh who cares? We got to stick it to the man (but not in the gay way)
Edit: ooh quote cockup!

Indeed. And I'm seriously hoping that they not only do away with the limitation, but do so in a retroactive fashion. But that's doubtful. I know there's one guy who has been renting the apartment his wife was murdered in simply to preserve the murder scene, but times running out -- I think only another 2 years or so left on that case and the police (in their typical useless fashion) are doing nothing.

Murder is a crime that there definitely should be no statute of limitations on.

Absolutely agree.
I think any 'reasonable person' would agree :)
How did you find that anyways?
By looking at the 'specials' section of the storefront. Pure unadulterated random chance.

Personally, I tend to check any item on sale over several regions to see what the variations are like. But you can always check the Specials tab as frostcircus said, or look on the forums =)
what, no plug for didmatic.com?

Aliasalpha: what, no plug for didmatic.com?

Only when relevant. And seeing as I don't currently track AU pricing, it's not relevant =P
Actually, I had checked the didimatic twitter, and saw that there were new sales you couldn't access. Wanted to see if I could. And I could!

Yeah I think there was a faulty regional server handling just the store subdomain as the rest of the Steampowered site loaded perfectly but the store would keep refusing connections. It is now fixed and I will be adding the current sales (and the new games) to Didimatic in a few hours time.
I still need to create images for some of the current sales too >_> Never realised tracking sales would take so much time.
