Meh... I had to uninstall the downloader yesterday because I got bored that the latest version always stopped downloading my games at 98%... At first I thought it was the anti-virus, but it wasn't (even disabled the issue persisted). Pausing/Resuming the download didn't fix it.
Next time, is browser time for me...

So, you're downloading to the same location and you're surprised the file got replaced?
CAN'T BE! START THE UPRISING, NOW!!!
(although the dwonloader could ask you "You want to replace or rename?" when event like this occurs)

It smells nothing of DRM. Honestly yelling DRM every time something weird, or some you don't like happens is dramatic, and unhelpful (Which I say to be frank, not to be reprimanding.) If DRM really is objectively a problem then convincing the world it is an objective problem requires objective people being rational and objective about what it does, as well as what is and isn't.
This sounds like normal computer behavior, not a deliberate attempt to build an artificial process that manages content or access. Even if it wasn't just the way computers work, I imagine it would be the expected way such tool would work. People use such a tool to unburden themselves with the mechanics of maintaining such a large set of files. In other words that is it's job, and for everyone that is pissed that it removes an old version, there would be 20 pissed that it didn't. It's generally just bad programming to leave gigs worth of outdated data laying around on someones machine, which is precisely how most people are going to view old installers.
Of course I really don't know for sure about anything concerning the downloader since I have never used it. The fact that it is not required is why it smells more like choice here than DRM. Someone may not love a particular methodology of one of the choices, and that's OK, but we still have oodles of choice. That can't be said for much of anywhere else.
wormholewizards: Usually GOG keeps the obsolete version of any game under bonus content section as separate installer. For examples, Broken Sword 1 and 2 and Oddworld Stranger's Wrath HD. Maybe Another World as well..
SirPrimalform: The only exception I can think of is when they updated Space Rangers 2 to the Reboot version. Dominators disappeared.... still they've lost the rights to sell any Space Rangers games now so it doesn't matter so much. I for one have both SR2 and SR2:RB installers. So I got lots of awesome new GOG'er aren't entitled to.

If I closed the downloader and re-opened it, it started re-checking the game, sometimes until it was completed or other times stopping at 98%. But if the files were already removed, started the download again from 0%. So the solution was moving the files and manually removing the game from the list.
Too much hassle for something so simple.

- Nicer folder names
- Inbuilt games shelf with a list of all my games and several quick action button next to it (download only, install (and download if not downloaded before))
For those who are letting the downloader run all the time, it might be interesting to have:
- Option for semiautomatically keeping games updated (when updates are available, ask me for permission to download)
- Optional notification of sales

LOL
I don't know why people feel the need to draw attention to their idiocy, but whatever reason they have, I'm glad its there.
