FearfulSymmetry: Apparently, he believes that girl gamers hang around in pj's all day with unbrushed hair. Well, I can safely say that most female gamers I know are not at all like that, and even if they were, it still wouldn't have anything to do with gaming. I can't even begin to wrap my head around that stupid idea.
Well, it's accepted that males can be lifeless "neckbeards" and such. The male notion is that males are held to low standards (hence the usual derogatory jabs at each other) and that females are held to higher standards rather than just able to be "one of the guys". All misconceptions that people don't learn any better about. But this is what leads to the whole "online harassment" and "sexism in games" problems. :Pstg83

ddickinson: As Momo said, it was mainly for a bit of girl gab, to see what kind of tastes some of the other female gamers here have and to also get a picture of who some of those other female gamers are. I was trying to think of something different to theme the giveaway around, it seemed harmless at the time.
Although we have had little interaction on the forum I have always been in awe of your amazing generosity towards this community in a relatively short amount of time here ddickinson. Furthermore, all of your giveaways have really interesting themes and always inspire a lot of informative and fascinating posts. So based on all of this the first thing that popped in my head when I saw this latest giveaway from you was exactly what you intended, just another cool theme for a giveaway. Then after reading your light hearted OP explaining the giveaway it made me smile and chuckle. The part that I have quoted is exactly what I surmised as the spirit of this wonderful giveaway and I am actually also very curious to know the varying taste of the female members of the GOG community and also how many are there as well. In short not even once did the thought enter my mind that this giveaway was in any way sexist until it was brought up by hedwards, who appears to have completely missed the point. Frankly speaking I would have been perfectly fine with this giveaway even if you weren't planning on hosting a boys only giveaway. Simple because with the amount of incredible giveaways you have hosted already and actually are hosting along with this one like the Weekly Point and Click giveaway as well as the gift bombs in others like BMF59's giveaway are more then enough to go around for people to benefit from your astoundingly gracious generosity.
Its fantastic to see all you amazing ladies having a genuine interest in a wide variety of genres of video games. It give me a lot of hope to find an amazing gal that is as passionate about video games as I am to share the joyful experience and not having to explain spending too much time as well as money on this favorite pastime. I myself prefer action/adventure games first and foremost because those are the types of games that I grew up playing starting with the original Prince of Persia on PC all the way upto Max Payne and Metal Gear Solid. Followed by Point and click Adventure games like the outstanding Lucas Arts classics like Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle and The Monkey Island series. For the third genre choice I'd say I actually enjoy playing the tense survival/horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill to name a couple. Recently I have started to dabble in RPGs with The Witcher series and I find them to be a lot of fun. Mainly I just like games that have a solid narrative and tell a great story, that is the number one thing I look at in a game for it to end up on my favorites list. :)
Thanks a lot for hosting this giveaway once again ddickinson and I look forward to more entries from all the fine ladies here as I know for a fact there are still quite a few that haven't posted here yet. Don't let the negativity of literally a few make you second guess this neat idea for a giveaway. ;)
Oh no you don't Momo, as awesome of a mic drop as this was I humbly request you to pick up the mic again and please enter in this giveaway for once because I hardly ever see you entering any even though you deserve to be rewarded for your invaluable contributions to this community. :)

Crewdroog: I will look down upon you! You are ruining the image of girl gamers! booo! ;) kidding :)
Pshh, hell I enjoy Mahjong. And I am sure there are guys who watched the video I posted and are now trying to get to prom hahaha.

To be fair, most guys if they said they were big time gamers would probably be cast in the same light, I guess it's only fair that we should suffer the same fate. Mistyped gamers as being hygienically challenged regardless of gender unite!
And it sounds like you need to invite your friend to a MP and gank his ass repeatedly until he apologizes ;)

Crewdroog: wait, we don't? *Looks down at PJs* My hair, I am supposed to, what now? Brush? what is this brushing thing of which you speak? Ha, next your going to tell me I should shower. As if! Yes, that is definitely true. There seems to be some sort of general stigma against gamers. We need to turn that around! And don't worry about that friend of mine, between having to deal with me and another female gamer friend on a daily basis he is exposed to enough ass whopping as it is. :P
Also, all this talk about pyjamas is seriously expanding my world. Just saying. :)

getlogan: Anyone thinking this giveaway is not fair needs to realise the OP did mention another giveaway was going to be done for the men. Also life is not fair to begin with, so the fact that this generosity exists is already a positive.
HijacK: Post 42. I'm all for positivity, but let's see from someone else's point of view the situation too. I read your post, but your reasoning does not make sense to me.
You say:
"So, there are more males on GOG than females. What does that mean? It means that in a female only giveaway the participants will have a higher chance percentage of winning than in an all male one, which basically favors the minority in this sense. (sounds like American politics to me xD) "
The OP mentioned there would be 2 separate giveaways. So it is not favouring at all. In fact, if the gender of the members on GOG was so skewed towards man, then a separate giveaway for ladies actually gives them a higher chance of winning some giveaways. The alternatives could have been:
-no giveaways at all
-giveaways only for men
-giveaways only for ladies
-giveaways to all GOG members (which as you mentioned the majority is male)
Again, the OP mentioned there would be 2 giveaways. So how is it favouring or unfair?

Take it this way: If 10 females join this giveaway, they all have 10% chance of winning.
If 35 males joins their male only giveaway, they all have 2.86% chances of winning. See the difference?
It's all simple math. If we are to add both parties together, a fair chance of winning would be 2.22%.
While I do support this giveaway, and I think some people are overreacting, I do not like it when people's reasoning behind justifying this is flawed.
Because it's Sunday and Monday's always suck. :P

HijacK: I beg to differ, but your logic is flawed. Giveaways that are separate to certain demographics technically benefit both sides since less participants = higher % chance of winning, however due to the huge difference in the numbers of these demographics the % chance of one are severely smaller than the others, which btw defeats the purpose of equality between genders and delves into more serious issues.

I don't know why you're even bringing out those cold numbers in such a thread. This is a giveway ffs. There doesn't have to be a giveaway at all. If I choose to give my friends some games, do I also have to include you in that? Bloody hell...You can be all idealistic as you want. But the world is not fair man, no matter how much you may wish it to be.Take it this way: If 10 females join this giveaway, they all have 10% chance of winning.
