ddickinson: I have started the Guys of GOG giveaway, so now is your chance to use the "Not in" you missed using for this giveaway ;-). Although, feel free to be In if you want.
Saw it earlier, going to have to read it tomorrow though and think over what to post.

Not yet sure whether to enter the contest or not. Don't usually join giveaways on gog since i'm mostly just a lurker on the forum.

Don't feel like you have to enter for the prize, it's only optional. The main purpose of both giveaways was to learn a little more about peoples tastes, the prizes were just a bit of fun.

ddickinson: No rush of course. I also read the Lucas Art thread. I must admit, part of me was wondering what the forum would be like if this has been a trick, if GOG had deliberately mislead the forum to keep the real mystery publisher a mystery. Not very probable I know, I'm sure many would annoyed if it was a trick, but it would be a good way of keeping the real publisher a secret.
That would be beyond cruel! Cleanse your mind with that holy water of yours for even thinking of it. ;-P

You've not been around here long enough to have experienced all the never-ending yearning for the LucasArts titles. Trust me, LucasArts classics being released here is like the dawn of renaissance. :-D

* Steals Hypers pocket money after he broke open his piggy bank and runs off. Leaving him unable to buy any LucasArts classics tomorrow. Mwahahahaahhaha! *

I like how I'm supposed to be a DAEMON, yet it's you exhibiting unfathomable levels of evilness and cruelty, all while hiding behind that pretty and innocent looking lady-avatar. ;-P

Just out of curiosity - do you do this for kicks and laughs or is there an ulterior desire to cause me mental and physical anguish? (◕︵◕)

*steals money back, and hides it in a place she'd never be bold enough to attempt getting it back from ;-P then memorises CC details and just in case never says them out loud*

HypersomniacLive: ...
I am a pretty and innocent lady :-). No true desire to cause any mental or physical anguish, far from it. Just having a bit of fun, normally I wouldn't hurt a fly, let alone steal your hard earned pocket money and prevent you buying some good old games.

Also, who said I'm a demon, I'm just a mischievous fairy :-).

* Gives Hyper a big hug to make up for been a mischievous fairy. *

First off, I was just messing with you (I thought my numerous emoticons made it obvious), I know it's just a bit of fun, so no worries. ;-D

As for the pretty and innocent, while the former is most probably true I have to seriously doubt the latter, if not for any other reason then only for pushing me repeatedly into the pit - do you think I didn't hear you scream "Die Hyper, Die!" ;-P

And giving me a hug is the least a fairy could do after putting me through everything she did. XD

I know you were only messing, even without the numerous emoticons, I would not have taken what you said as anything other than a bit of fun :-). I just thought I would take off the evil helm and show a kinder side. Now that I have emotions again I decided to end my reign as evil overlord and stop pushing nice people in a pit of evil gamer nerds. Also, there were no "Die Hyper, Die!"', but there were lots of Mwahahahaahhaha, but who doesn't love doing an evil laugh :-).

ddickinson: I have no real problem with movie adaptations, as long as they try to stay true to the book
Sorry for necroing, but I'm just finishing The Hunger Games audiobook, and I've seen the movie before, and I realised something (which I knew before, it just came into clearer focus), so figured since we discussed movie adaptations here I'll post in this thread.

I find the difference between a movie and a book to be interesting, and this actually adds to my enjoyment of both. It's possible that it's because I see a story as fluid in my own writing. There's nothing "canon" about a particular version, so I'm not offended by changes, I see them as a necessary part of adaptation. Noting the changes and speculating on what these particular changes were made is interesting, and I think also beneficial to understanding story development.

Sure, I might consider a particular version better. In the case of The Hunger Games I feel that the book is stronger. But still, the difference is not something I see as negative.

By the way, this also goes for movie remakes. Seeing a different realisation of the same concept is always interesting, even if they differ considerably, even if I don't consider the remake as good as the original.
