ddickinson: The giveaway has ended and I have drawn the lucky winners.

The lucky winner of the giveaway is the self confessed Angel in Disguise, the lovely genkicolleen, congratulations! Because genkicolleen chose the $5.99 prize and also chose to nominate the cute pink bunny, Crewdroog will also get a $5.99 prize. And because I enjoyed the thread and learning more about my fellow female gamers, I decided that I would offer another $5.99 prize to the person Crewdroog nominated. So FearfulSymmetry will also get a $5.99 prize. Congratulations to all the winners!
Congrats to the winners and thank you for the giveaway! :-D

Piranjade: Congrats to the winners and thank you for the giveaway! :-D
Thank you for taking part and sharing your favourite genres of games, it has been so nice getting to know the tastes of the other ladies here on GOG.

genkicolleen: I wasn't able to keep up with this thread because I've not been feeling well, but I look forward to seeing how the Boys' GA discussion turns out XD I'll be keeping this one favorited so that I can go back and see what all everyone talked about ;D
I'm curios to see what a boys sleepover is like ;-). We had pyjamas, popcorn, porn and pillow fights, I wonder what they will have :-). I am also curious to see what games they like and what off-topic discussions will occur.

P.S. I hope you feel better soon.

CarrionCrow: Your wife has good taste in party members if she drop-kicked Anomen's obnoxious ass out. To this day, I've never been able to stand having him in my group. He starts talking and I kinda sorta start wanting him to be on point for every encounter, passive-aggressively hoping he runs into something like a dragon. Or a beholder. Or a fireball to the head.
Hehe lol. I did his personal quest for the XP and then got rid of him.
IIRC Haer'Dalis was planned as a second romance option and my wife loved that character (even if in combat he's one of the most useless choices). Being a Planescape fan myself I was intrigued to have him in my party, but couldn't really decide who of my team I should leave behind because I either liked them too much or needed their abilities.
Congratulations to the winning ladies and thanks to all the ladies & gentlemen for all the input. And of course, thanks to ddickinson for graciously hosting this monster of a thread (monster by size, not by nature!)

genkicolleen: For people like me with a burning curiosity to know what people choose for their prize(s) in contests like these, I picked Simon the Sorcerer 2.
Excellent choice, I still haven't completed the game as I'm stuck somewhere close to the end. If I manage to finish the game this year, it will have been a 20 year long project :)

He's not only annoying as hell, but his wisdom isn't even very good, so he's a crap priest to boot. It's like he's there to be a test in patience for the player.
Not a big fan of Haer'dalis either, since every bard I've ever seen or used might as well have had a sign above their head saying "Please keep healing ready since I'm ALWAYS about to die."

FoxySage: i have noticed female characters are usually stuck with a goody two-shoe paladin/cleric in rpgs as a romance option.

Anomen in BG, Alistair in DAO and Casavir in NwN2 (although in NwN2 the male character is stuck with the creepy elven druidess that have stalked him since he was a child. :p)

toxicTom: Interesting, I knew only about Anomen. And that guy nearly ruined the game for my wife, not because he's the good guy, but because he's such a "whimp" (quote by my wife). She loathed the dialog and his personal quest. She looked with envy on Viconia and Jaheira - really interesting string characters. She didn't like Aerie - too "dolly bird".
Well in the end after the second or third romance talk she kicked him out of the party. Being really angry at the developers.

But there is hope, I guess. I think with games like Jade Empire and Mass Effect the romance options for female characters have become more interesting, including same sex options.
At least Alistair had a nice dry, sarcastic humour which is a big plus in my book. :D

Don't really know much of Anomen other than what you told since i never completed BG or BG 2 (and i have never played Jade Empire/Mass Effect).
Congrats to the winners!
Congratulations to the very lucky winners, this was an interesting giveaway, cheers for ddickinson!
Wait, are we being kicked out? Just one more drink, man. Just one more drink.

ddickinson: I would also like to say thank you again for our talk on men playing female characters.
I missed that. When was it?

I tried just now to analyse my male vs. female characters (mainly from City of Heroes and Everquest 2), and frankly I have no clue why I pick male or female. I think it often has to do with the background. My Neo (Matrix) style character in CoH was probably female because I liked Trinity better in that movie. My GodStepMother character in EQ2 was just because I wanted an Arasai (evil fae) character and mixing the fairy tale fairy godmother and evil stepmother felt like a good thing to do. (I remember wanting to create a male Arasai character called Otto The Fae, not sure what came of that.)
I knew one day I would trip over my penis. Although I always thought it would be when my wife and my girlfriend find out about each other.
