The giveaway has ended and I have drawn the lucky winners. A very big thank you to everyone who took part in the discussion, the women and the men, but especially the women. For the most part it has been a very enjoyable giveaway with some very interesting topics. Hopefully it will help break the stereotype of the casual gamer girl, it seems many of the female gamers here have been gaming since the good old days of the Commodore 64 or the ZX Spectrum. I also want to thank the guys who asked extra game related questions, this opened up some very interesting discussions on the habits and likes of female gamers.
I have made a quick list of the different genres the ladies seem to prefer and listed them below. It may not be of much interest to everyone, but I found it quite interesting to know what kind of games people prefer, especially female gamers. The list is in no particular order, but the more popular genres are near the top of the list. It is by no means a definitive list, but it is interesting to see such a big selection of games, not just the usual "girly" games. RPGs seem to be the most popular choice, followed closely by point-and-click and adventure games, but there is also a nice mix of strategy games, platforms, FPS, and other genres.
GOG Girls' favourite game genres: - RPGs & jRPGs Games
- Point-and-Click / Adventure Games
- Action / Adventure Games
- Strategy Games
- Platformer Games
- Puzzle Games
- FPS Games
- Dark & Eerie Games
- Hack and Slash Games
- Roguelike Games
- Sandbox-Craft-Survival Games
- Scary / Horror Games
- Simulation / Managerial Games
- Stealth Games
- Sport games
Now onto the lucky winners. Thank you to all the ladies who took the time to take part and share their tastes with the forum. Like most of my giveaways, I use a good old paper raffle, I wrote all the names down onto pieces of paper and drew the winner. The lucky winner of the giveaway is the self confessed Angel in Disguise, the lovely
genkicolleen, congratulations! Because genkicolleen chose the $5.99 prize and also chose to nominate the cute pink bunny,
Crewdroog will also get a $5.99 prize. And because I enjoyed the thread and learning more about my fellow female gamers, I decided that I would offer another $5.99 prize to the person Crewdroog nominated. So
FearfulSymmetry will also get a $5.99 prize. Congratulations to all the winners!
I am sorry to all the lovely ladies who did not win. But I really do appreciate you taking the time to enter and provide some information on your favourite genres. If I could, I would have gifted you all a game.
I will begin the guys giveaway on Monday, it will be similar to this one, but I may include some extra questions inspired by the topics on this thread. Everyone is welcome to take part in the discussion (male or female), whether they answer all of the questions or just one.
Enjoy the rest of you weekend!
