I never understood the hate for Risen, I thought it was good tbh.
People despised the Legend of Zelda CDi games, I found them completely hilarious. I spent more time laughing while playing it than criticizing it
The 3rd Birthday

If you brainwash yourself into forgetting it has anything to do with Parasite Eve... and don't try to understand the plot... and don't mind the "damage-strip-tease" part, it's actually a decent PSP third person shooter.

grviper: Deadly Premonition aka Red Seeds Profile if you import from Japan. Twin Peaks: The Game. One third of the game is survival horror where you fight demons in the Other world, which takes over entire buildings. One third is campy dialogue and investigating among the weird people of a small American town (they even have a crazy pot lady). Oh, the main character has a split personality, by the way. The final third is playing darts, fishing, completing sidequests, such as teaching a local police lady how to cook.

Roman5: I've heard a lot of good things about Deadly Premonition online, it's great that the game is Coming to PS3 in the west, I'll definitely give it a shot when I get my hands on a PS3 copy
IT IS? Awesome! That's made my day :D

The PC version received good reviews. It was the 360 version that was utter crap.

Tiefood: Warband!
I have to admit after they tweak the combat in Warband, I'm lost. The on foot combat is much better, but the horse combat becomes test of luck to me.

Really? I thought that horseback combat was much improved. Maybe it's your mileage with the game, takes some getting used to it.

huh? thats weird.
Surprised how many people are saying Far Cry 2. I agree completely. Although critic reviews were mostly good, I still cannot fathom how the game has garnered so much hate from gamers. I love it. Just the perfect game to boot up and mess around in.

Some others:

Timeshift - There's no reason for this game to have the lukewarm critical reviews that it has. It's not perfect, but almost every flaw is shared with other, more acclaimed titles. And when it works, it REALLY works.

The Conduit - Well, I wouldn't say it wowed me, necessarily... but I found it to be a very competent, very fun, very polished little Wii shooter. Only problem is that the gaming community in general despises the Wii, so naturally they dismissed it.

STALKER Clear Sky - I realize that it's easily the weakest and most broken of the STALKER games... but CS was my introduction to The Zone, and it completely blew me away.

Red Faction 1 - I dunno... I expected mediocrity, and the game was actually pretty darn good. Was surprising.
Oh, I forgot one

Serious Sam HD The First Encounter metacritic score: 68

iainmet: Rogue Trooper and Jusdge Dredd (Dredd Vs Death), great games coming from Rebellion and the 2000AD comics.

Clive Barkers Jericho, very console orientated shooter but the locations and time shifts are really good. Not as good as Undying but still a decent shooter.
I really enjoyed Rogue Trooper as well, Have not played Dredd vs Death yet.

Hopefully the Jericho sequel that barker mention a few years ago is in some form of development

Ah, OK, it was the PC version I played. Thanks for the heads up :)
I usually don't check out reviews but I'd have to agree with a few other GOG'ers. Deadly premonition got some bad reviews when I was hunting for a new horror game to buy to play.

It did have some issues, but all-in-all it wasn't a bad game. I found it to be funny at times, like the final boss... yeah he was something else!

Nice to see the remarks here about Alpha Protocol. It looks good to me and was already on my Steam wishlist, waiting on a sale again.

I checked and found Jericho on Steam for only 5 bucks and there's a demo so it is downloading now. What was "console" about it specifically? Is it best played with a controller? I'm fine with that if so, am just wondering. I read one comment about difficulty being tough from the start? Anything to that? Anyway, I'll have a go with the demo but would love to hear a little more detail on Jericho.
Deadly Premonition
Far Cry 2
Breakdown (Seriously, fucking good game :] )

Let me put it this way- I rented Risen and remember not liking the game probably cause of the crappy port. Much later I played a demo of Risen on a laptop with intel hd (that is right not even a real graphics card) and from what I can remember it had a better performance than the console version.

That's right, that is how bad of a port the Risen demo was, a laptop with Intel HD graphic played the game better. (at least from the demo) Still not perfectly mind you, I haven't played the first two Gothic games, and I probably should go play those before getting Risen anyways if I want to play those type of RPGs.
