We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I guess these sigs are like a pandemic when it is past the point of no return. "If you can't fight the disease, you must become the disease." I will just have to come up with something clever first.

csmith: Would there possibly be an option to not display people's signatures? It could default to "on"
but I'd turn it off in a second. That would be wonderful.
I've got that sorted in the next version of Barefoot Essentials. It'll be ready once I finish the new options screen I'm working on. Maybe Sunday if we're lucky.

Nirth: I disagree. There's a reason why you can't.
avatar
wpegg: It's a bad reason. Internet anonymity breeds trolls. I believe we should be as open as we can on
forums (in free speaking countries at least).
Maybe but this forum is already open enough besides what do you think will happen when people can't hide behind a down rep? They will stop down rep or make "down rep" accounts. That's not a good consquence.

There was a post by some guy here that explained the point of a rep system very well but sadly I forgot to bookmark it, I'll repost it if I can find it.

And you are still anonymous enough. It's not like they see your real name. I like the idea as I think it is a very simple way to improve forum quality.

I think most can deduce my name, if it weren't for the fact that I'm bound to the name I signed up with, I'd be William Pegg on the forums. I'll edit my under avatar sig now...

I agree it's not a solve all solution, but it does help people to stop and think before striking at someone else.

Now come on, Optimus Pegg was awesome!

That's true, I can't abandon Optimus, he'd never forgive me. Changing back...
Personally, I never had a huge johnson for sigs. I guess I'm now a fellow Lemming 8).

I've always liked "This message will self destruct in sixty seconds" Classic!

"Open downrepping" would only result in people downrepping others for revenge, and in turn to feuds. Terrible idea.

At least they don't show who does the downvoting

Elnareen: Just my two cents: I just cobbled together a little
greasemonkey script to hide
the new forum signatures, for those (me included) who prefer the forum pages without them :)
Feel free to install it and report any suggestion you may have (for the moment, it is literally
one line of jquery).
Edit: Version 1.1 now with automatic updates support.
I'm putting your userscript in my sig.
Oh god, please no signatures. People, there is just nothing that's interesting or funny enough to make me wanna read it after every single one of your posts. It just makes threads appear more cluttered and that bit more difficult to read, and besides, an avatar, nickname and tagline should be enough to establish a bit of individuality.
