P1na: Ok, just did some testing.

First, Fallout free gifts don't work, even when they were part of a paying order.
Second, old freebies still work, I tried torchlight and even the couple Duke Nukem 3D from last year. So my torchlight giveaway is still in effect.

Momo1991: Well that is good news - but already gifted my one Torchlight code a while back.

Anyone try the Realms of Arkania freebie?
Realms of Arkania is still fine.
Is it really true they don't work

KWJJ-AVJK-WZ9C-5TLG <- old one

YMVJ-NB6S-ZHBF-NJHY<- new one

yup they come up "expired" as well as this message

"This giftcode was part of our 48 hour giveaway of Fallout. Unfortunately, the code is no longer operational as the giveaway has ended. Don't worry, though, because we have hundreds of other great games on GOG.com, including 12 free ones!"

I know someone on GameFAQs that was asking for Fallout and Fallout 2; any chance I could get a code for them?

See post right above your own. Free codes have expired. More info in the Fallout subforum.

JMich: These are the first gift codes to expire, so there are no long timers with expired codes in their gift lists. Support will probably remove them, but it is (obviously) a low priority job.
Ah well, we'll see how it goes. I was thinking perhaps someone had one of those 8-digit codes that do expire and which had gone beyond the "use by" date. But that wouldn't be a perfect test anyway.
Now we need a, The ""The "f**k me, I missed the Fallout giveaway" giveaway" giveaway.

I think that's right.

This is such a huge bummer. I blame firefox haha, otherwise I'd have downloaded these for free yesterday.

Really though, if I knew this was going to happen, I would have just gave them away sooner instead of holding on to them. :/

I'm sorry for your loss. If this problem (hopefully) ever clears itself up (which i don't think it will), let me know and I'll give you a copy.

This is an unfair move and I hate how some people can ruin it for the rest. I'm really really sorry.

Oh I already have a code, thanks though.

It's really not THAT big of a deal, as again, the games aren't expensive to begin with. But it still is very lame. I don't really understand why people selling THEIR gifts should create this huge fuss. It's their free gift, they should be able to do what they want with it. Although I don't understand why people would go through such a hassle over just a few bucks.

The license changes hands at the end of the year and the Fallout games will most likely be pulled from GOG, unless a new agreement comes into force and allows otherwise.
You see how the value of the games suddenly changes?

And do you really think it's ok to make a profit out of the good will and generosity of GOG and Interplay.?

What's frustrating for me was I hoarded 50 codes to give away on New Year's Day... Screws over the community giving away games to people who missed the free Fallout window :(

I do agree, I don't think people should be trying to make any money off these games, it's wrong.
Honestly, who would even try to actually sell them? It's honestly ridiculous.

Anywho, it may be unfair but it is justifiable. One bad apple does spoil the bunch.

May this be a lesson to those who abuse the system for the rest of us.
Well, doesn't that suck. But GOG has to know people would abuse the freebies and the kind offer. Give gamers an inch and they'll run a mile. I've always wondered why GOG didn't limit the freebies to one code per person. They've given away at least 3 games in my year here that I remember and lot more in the past and people end up hoarding them. Obviously, gamers would use them to sell or trade to unsuspecting innocents, its what they do.
BUt if limited to one code, I can use it myself or keep it for later. I personally would gift it if I kept for later but even if I traded or sold it, I'd be abusing their gift only once, not with as many codes as I picked up while the freebie was available. I wouldn't be surprised if some picked up dozens for as bad as this website was slammed that first day it was offered.
Understandable move by GOG, and perhaps it's something they have to do because they won't have the rights anymore. Either way, it was great these games were offered for free, and maybe one day they'll be back on GOG.

I can't agree with you more! I'm just so grateful to have these games again in my collection.

Brings back memories.. :)
