I still have this bad boy here.

Sold very badly, so naturally it's worth a mint now.
*sigh* the good old days when gaming wasn't a billion dollar industry but companies actually gave a damn about their games and really strived towards innovation. I really don't understand the hype for the 'next gen' consoles. Besides better graphicsspeed nothing has changed really.

Atari 2600 is as far as I can go :p

I still proudly own a working 2600 with the fake wood design case.

Why no TI99/4A in the picture? Or do they consider it a PC and not a console?

Guess so, no amiga/c64 either.
Ah, the memories!

The oldest I played back-in-the-day was the Atari 2600. Oldest that my family owned was the Colecovision (1982). The last console I bought was the PS2 (2000), which is also the only one I still have.

Oops, am I being blind or did they forget the Atari Jaguar?
Weird considering there's stuff way more obscure than it on there
Good poster still, though!

I still have my TI-99 and all it's expansions, even my 1200baud modem. :D

The distinction between a console and a PC has often been a bit blurry. Some would argue the distinction is starting to disappear entirely.

And 3DO, and and and...

Anyway, I was always more of a home computer kind of guy, I just felt they offered more bang for the buck for being a bit more multipurpose than mere gaming, so I always rather wanted some (home) computer than a gaming console.

To me the difference between a gaming console and a (gaming) home computer (including PCs) is that with the latter anyone can become a developer, without buying any additional devkits etc.

So for example, many Commodore 64, Amiga or x86 PC end-users also became game or application developers (or making their own music or demos with the system) without necessarily any extra investments, while NES and SNES gamers remained as gamers (content users, not creators). I think there were some special Playstation units which let you also develop Playstation software, but those are beside the point.

That's why I also consider e.g. iPads and Android devices to be closer to consoles than computers, because they seem to be aimed solely for consuming apps and games made by others, not making your own with the device. I presume the people who are actually developing apps for smartphones/tablets are doing them on PCs and Macs, not on tablets themselves (some iOS/Android developer probably knows better)..

I'm sure someone will come up with a Wikipedia article proving that my definition for a home computer/PC is flawed, but meh.

There's actually 2 different versions of the 3DO just above the PSX - which makes the omission of the Jag all the stranger
I know what you mean about computers though - I may have started with a 2600 but from there I went C64 - Amiga - Pentium PC
Commodore 4 life!

No, the Jaguar is in there. Labelled 3DO for some odd reason.
Got my Activision Activision Anthology Rom right here. River Raid 1&2, Pitfall 1&2, and The Romantics on the soundtrack! I'm all good!
