Time for a public service notice: since I just discovered there is a chance the competition might go viral on social networks (and if that happens, I definitely won't be able to control it!), I have had to put on a maximum allowed number of entries, currently set at 80. I don't know if we are going to get that many participants, but just in case. It is only me and three others here we will judge in this competition, and we can't take hundreds of participants. That said, I would still like to thank those who spread the word, I know you mean well, and I'm grateful for that. :)

I will try to be flexible and allow for more contributions above 80 as well (maybe even up to a hundred), but not too much.

Only the GOG version got the Downloadable Collector's Edition Artbook, along with store credit (which translates back to the winners in this competition), and most importantly: the option to preload. The Witcher 2 will also be released sooner on GOG than anywhere else: Monday 16th of May at 10:00 PM GMT. Rest of the web need to wait for Tuesday. Other than that, the two versions are pretty much identical except for the Steamworks features, which is a matter of taste. I could perhaps ask the winners which version they prefer, but since this competition is hosted on GOG and indeed made for GOG, it seems kinda awkward to go some place else... :P

if possible please do add that option of asking the winners, which version they would want, man your contest is turning into one mega awesome one....
i forgot to mention steam also allows 90% preload before the game releases, but ya its a day late than gog.... wish someone would clearly state which is better

I have fired off a question to EnigmaticT about using the GOG key on Steam, and I'll get back to you with any answer he provides. If the answer is negative, I will probably ask gold winners which version they would prefer. I don't want to force anyone into a version they are not comfortable with. :)

Don't worry about it, everything is under control currently. It is only a slight possibility as yet. Please, take the time you need and have fun. There will be further warnings if the situation does escalate out of proportions, but I don't think that's likely to happen. It is only a precaution. :)

GOG version is better, because $$$ goes directly to CDProject, and they only get part of it when you buy it from Steam.

Or course, you may not care, but on the other hand, the more CDP earns, the bigger chance we'll get more from them. Like The Witcher 3, or maybe different kind of rpg? I dream about Atari get them to develope Planescape Torment 2.

And my opinion would be to gift GoG versions for a few reasons:
- GoG's version is also the Digital Premium Edition + Artbook, + 1 game (out of five) + 16$ store credit (that would basically be another 2 games 1x5.99$ + 1x9.99$, or even more with sales ? )
-More money to developers (I think )
-If GoG sells quite a bit of copies it will encourage further DRM free releases (yeah I know, patches DRM, I don't care, it's still a huge step)
-Promote GoG

While I use Steam I'm clearly biased and prefer GoG. So in the end it's Skystrider's money (huge thanks for doing this by the way!) and hence his choice.

gog all the way, plus with 80 contestants you might want to reconsider the option to allow resubmitting, it should be one shot only, do your best ;)

It was a no brainer for me. The middleman is cut out and CDPR gets the most from my purchase. I go GOG, 100% of the way.

Phew! We have entered day six of the competition and, as predicted, the weekend is when we get the most contributions. The final number yesterday was 13 entries, the same as the massive leap we saw back on Thursday, all of them of amazing quality! As for today, I am still sorting through them, but we have had six entries so far! I will keep updating the list and numbers as the day progresses.

Oh, and remember that silly roof I tried to impose on the competition yesterday? Well, me and my friends discussed it this morning, and we all agreed on one thing: forget about it! There is no roof, this competition will remain open for all, regardless of how many participants we get. If the competition goes viral, it goes viral, and we'll just have to adapt to that. The only limit is that competition will officially close on May 10th, at about 10:00 GMT, which is about when the Witcher 2 should enter preload period, still over two days to go. More about that when we get there.
So, bring it on and keep it coming! Let's see where this flood takes us!

Now, back to processing the ever wonderful and fantastic entries that keep coming in! You folks are amazing!

Oh yeah, I forgot to answer a few questions. First of all, I have heard back from EnigmaticT about using the GOG key of the Witcher 2 on Steam. The answer is no, we can't do that. We could add the game as a non-Steam game to the Steam library, but we would still miss out on the Steamworks features. As a result, those who win the competition will be able to choose which edition to get, either GOG, or Steam, or GamersGate, or wherever they wish.

Sorry, but I can only gift you games; GOG does not support gifting certificates or store credit yet. However, that's not to say they won't ever, and the winners can redeem their prize whenever they wish, so if there's nothing in GOG's catalouge that they want right away except The Witcher 2, the winners can always wait and come back to me whenever they feel like it. :)
