Elmofongo: May I ask:

Is that Middle Earth mod for Skyrim avaliable?
avatar
amok: This one?

http://www.moddb.com/mods/merp-middle-earth-roleplaying-project

Then it is still active (I think) and there is no downloads yet.
Wait )!

Did any of you notice the petition link at the bottom ?
I don't know where they're at currently, but I have to check if our 'WB' friends have decided to pull their hollow thing out of their tight schmucks ... and WB stands for Warner Bros or WannaBe.

McDon: Ok...WHO BUMPED THIS THREAD???!!! >:P
I recently thought about bringing a new Skyrim thread to life about mods, something like a final version now that all DLCs are released. A quick search revealed 1.5 pages of Skyrim threads....

Yes, as much as I hate to admit it, sometimes it's better to necro threads.

Rohan15: I'm running around 102 mods,
In contrast, I have played over 200 hours with exactly 0 mods installed ;)

I don't know how you do it.

An unhealthy respect for canon and the artists' work.

but....but.... how is it even possible to play this game without removing underwear and having Galadriel and Arwen there?????

(well.... I must admit I got about 20 myself, but they are the unofficial patches and some graphic fixes. The only "cheats" I got is glowing ore and the bandolier one which makes it possible to craft bags and pouches for increased carry weight.)

What about bug fixes and vanilla hd re-textures?

I do use nonofficial patches when needed (Arcanum, Bloodlines) and I do use texture replacers when there is a real need to and they stick close to the original design (Thief 3, Deus Ex).

I don't feel either of those are true yet for Skyrim though. Someday probably.

I don't really get this notion. I do respect the artists' work, they built the whole game. But if there are mods that will make me enjoy the game more, then I will use them on top. And they published the construction set specifically so that fans could create modifications. I haven't played Skyrim, but I could not imagine to play Oblivion or Fallout 3 without the unofficial patches and some gameplay overhaul mods (but I read that Skyrim is somewhat better in that regard).
I can understand when someone says he does not like these modifications - tastes differ, after all -, but I do not understand how installing modifications has anything to do with disrespecting the artists' work.

I feel the same, I want to play the game the way the developers intended it.

even when the developers intended shadow clipping, HD textures on low res meshes, animation clipping and skipping and so on and so forth... ?
Richard from PC Gamer did an experiement where he installed 200 mods completely at random, just for the added surprises and excitement:

I think they also had one long running Skyrim series where he was only allowed to use illusion spells. 100% illusion mage. Was a little fun to read.

Well have fun. They wouldn't make ME enjoy the game more, so I don't use them. Everyone's different.

They usually patch it? If it's really bad, I'll probably get some unofficial patch but otherwise...nuh!
I usually use consoles for AAA games like Skyrim anyway, less compatibility issues.
