These people are officially insane, spineless and greedy.
So Bethesda is officially taking Mojang to court over the use of the word 'scrolls'.

In other news, a massive class-action lawsuit comprising of the entire church of Christianity, the entirety of the world's Aboriginal groups, law firms representing the entire species Acer negundo and the genus Sambucus, and the entire world population over 65 has been levied again Bethesda for their misuse and blatant trademark violation over the use of the word "elder".
Oblivion was hugely dumbed down compared to Morrowind, but nobody would have imagined that Skyrim could be so much worse.

Skyrim is an RPG aimed at people who don't actually like RPGs.
This is shocking!!! Oh wait... no it isn't.
I got Oblivion goty deluxe for about 8 euros, I think I'll wait for a similar offer for Skyrim. By that time there would be complete overhaul mods that make the game actually fun to play. Until then I have no problem playing Morrowind with MSGO. It's a beautiful game.
Bethesda, right now, makes good modding platforms. That's all.
That analysis sounds... worrying. I guess I might wait for Skyrim to become a good old game before finally abandoning Morrowind and trying it...
All the Skyrim promo stuff made it sound like it was a throwback to Morrowind style, but everything I've seen or read about the game itself seems like it's going down the path of more simplification like Oblivion did. While I greatly enjoyed Oblivion, further simplifications will really damage later games. The only things that Oblivion really added were poisons (which were very neat) and horses, but horses existed in Daggerfall and were removed for Morrowind for technical reasons. Stuff like the removal of custom spells is also worrying, because the custom spells were one of the unique and distinctive things about the series. Even if they WERE essentially just a spreadsheet of X + Y + Z, they were FUN.

They've championed stuff like having a half-dozen level designers instead of just one, and the hand-placed trees and such instead of procedurally generated ones, but it seems like the soul that went into Morrowind (and to a lesser degree, Oblivion) has fled at the expense of technical and stylistic "advances." Also, it will use Steamworks, which just makes me sad.
Looks like I'm saving some money gonna wait on this to hit a sale on steam in a couple of years time Oblivion is light enough and this is looking even lighter...

hobbes543: I'm interested in this. I really hope they have more factions and side quests than Oblivion. I do like the idea that you don't select a class, but your class gets defined as you play based on how you play as well.
I kinda like that idea, honestly. Then again, I've never really enjoyed the character creation part of RPGs. I prefer to just jump into the world and start exploring.
Well "class" doesn't really matter that much in Morrowind or Oblivion, since any character can eventually do anything with enough training and/or work. Spending ages on character creation is more for games with item or skill restrictions based on class or ability scores, which no TES game has had since Daggerfall.

In Oblivion, it's actually advantageous to pick at least one skill that you have NO intention of increasing, just to slow down your levelling... which is just weird as hell.
If they wanted TES themed FPS they should've revived Batllespire. That one had tits. And a character generator that allowed you to rip out your mana glands and get complete immunity to something nasty instead.

Skyrim is Aimed at people who Play call of duty

Mass Effect 3 is Aimed at people who Play call of duty (Bioware said this themselves)

RPG's today are Aimed at people who Play call of duty

Videogames are not made for gamers today

Speaking of Tits

Reminds me when I played Daggerfall and there was actual nudity in the game

Good times

You could enter random rooms in the inn and bump into topless girls.

I literally read that with my mouth opened. They are frigging insane!

For gods sake.

Obsidian is not dong great financially, their unique IP failed.
Cd Projekt had two great games but number two was not traditional rpg but actionny slasher.

Bioware gave up rgs with Mass Effect 2.
Bethesda is doing Apple meets Call of Duty RPG STYLE
Fable are not even rpg and it was mistake to make it as one according to the great gaming persona.

who the hell still makes rpg?
