Prator: I'm suprised that no one has suggested a Mana Regeneration mod yet. Playing a spellcaster is a real pain in the arse without that, let me tell you...

DrIstvaan: I advised Dynamic Magicka Regeneration - I think it does a good job ;-).
Hmm, so you did. My bad.
Yes, playing a primary spellcaster (or even a part-time spellcaster) without magicka regeneration is not advisable. The expense you pay for mana potions and new spells is so dear that you might be tempted to play a warrior just to save money.
Agreed on that; I never understood why the Bethesda guys hindered spellcasters in such a way. Maybe to keep them from being overpowered? But even if that's the case, they went a little too far with it.

There might be something to that... I remember one character I had with 100 ranks in Destruction magic. Every time he touched someone, they would burst into flames and die. One touch. He was also always broke. It made for an interesting game, at least...

People buy potions? I just made them. And sleeping regenerates magicka, so I didn't use very many either.

Sleeping does not regenerate magicka if you chose The Atronach birthsign, which is offset by a vastly increased maximum magicka and a 50-50 chance of absorbing magic attacks into the magicka pool. The absorption alone made it my favourite birthsign, although I don't think I ever tried a pure mage.

Heh, same here. I always played warrior type characters, but still preferred the Atronach birthsign just for the spell absorption. Combined with the Necromancer's Amulet and it was quite rare for any enemy spell to do any damage.

Yes, Atronach was my wife's favorite birthsign. She's even less willing to buy potions than I am. She joined the temple for the altars as soon as she could and pushed Alchemy.
Currently playing a mage Atronach now. I did get stuck once, and had to buy a single potion, but aside from that, there is a fair amount of power to the sign.

...I may install and play Morrowind again, just for this.
This is one hell of a necro but whatever.

What mods do you guys suggest I use for morrowind, for a first time actual attempt at a full playthrough?

I remember trying to play it on the old xbox and hating it however I am giving it another shot.

I'm on there right now, I'm just wanting people to suggest some that they had good experience with.

MrWilli: snip
I suggest you play it without any mods the first time through, just to get some perspective.
