Yeah, the Nintendo conference was a bit underwhelming, and they totally had to win this years E3 since they got a fucking new console. But they didnt. Project 100 is the best game ive seen on WiiU along with Pikmin 3, why didnt they show it on the conference? Jesus. The conference is where you really have to show the most impressive stuff, yet they didnt.

In my opinion, out of the 3 hardware companies, Sony won E3. The Last of Us was by far the most impressive game out of the big 3. I got kind of disappointed that they had a lot more titles to show, like the new Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, The Last Guardian, and they didnt. Still, it was the best. Oh, and the new content they announced for PS+ (which is available RIGHT NOW) was AMAZING. Theres so much value for that subscription, its worth every single cent. Theyre offering 12 full games this month, and some of these are huge AAA titles such as Infamous 2, LBP 2, Warhammer Space Marine and Just Cause 2. These games alone are worth much, MUCH more than the U$ 50 price tag for 1 year subscription.

But the best conference certainly came from Ubisoft. It was the only company to come up with a few surprises that didnt get leaked, like Splinter Cell Blacklight, and to finally bring some new IPs (Watch Dogs and Zombie U).

Wait, I'm not familiar with how the PSN+ sub works, do you keep these games forever (well, as long as your console lasts), until you lapse your PSN+ sub, or what?

That could be an amazing deal.

You keep the games as long as you are a subscriber. If you cancel your subscription, you lose the games that you got for free. Obviously you keep the games that you bought with PS+ discounts. Ive been a subscriber since the beggining, and they have definately improved a lot in the last few months, offering some AAA titles such as Farcry 2, Tomb Raider Underworld and NFS Shift 2. Not to mention the PS2 and PS1 classics (i got all 3 Syphon Filter PS1 games with my subscription). The only thing they have to do, and i believe its in the plans, is to expand the service to PSP and PSVita games.

I think you lose the games if your subscription lapses.

If you lapse and resub do you get your "collected" free games back or back from slate zero? Sounds like a rental, albeit you only pay the rental fee once per item, but you gotta keep renting...

I think youre back to 0 if you resub.
It really is incredibly how quickly some of the big ticket items from a year or two ago have been tossed aside. the 3DS was a total afterthought for Nintendo, and PS Move's only showing was the Wonderbook fiasco at the Sony event.

Nintendo was the only hardware company that didn't waste a big chunk of their show on a bunch of non-game nonsense that bored the audience to sleep. Sadly, that's a plus this year. I thought EA had a solid show. Ubi was much better than the past couple of years, but that's mainly because the past couple of years have been train wrecks. Microsoft started well and then sucked the life out of the conference with what felt like hours of rambling boredom about new media features and blah blah blah. Sony did pretty much the same thing. Showed 2 games, then just talked. And talked. And talked. And that Wonderbook showing was one of the worst E3 demos I've ever seen at a press event. the only comparably bad thing I can think of was when Ubisoft spent 10 minutes on laser tag a couple of years ago.

Honestly, I found the big 5 pretty underwhelming.

Microsoft was not aiming for good game site coverage, they were aiming for mainstream media coverage of Starglass or whatever the fuck it was called, and they got it. Their goal is to transition from the PC, which they see as quickly becoming a work-only machine, to living room media control. Apple, Sony, MS, Google and others all see a single system controlling media and internet in the living room and they all want to be that system and service.

They did pretty well for their actual goals, they just did shitty as a video game presentation.

wodmarach: Actually it was removed entirely WAY before that, PS3 hasn't had PS2 support since it's EU release.
avatar
Neobr10: If i recall correctly that wasnt the case. Actually, i bought my PS3 80GB model 1 year after the EU release and it still had PS2 backwards compability. I think you might be confusing that with the fact that they removed the Emotion Engine on these newer PS3 models, which doesnt mean the end of backwards compability.
Your right it lasted 5 months in the EU any phat other than the 80GB (and including the later 80GB models) had it removed. I have 3 phats with no PS2 support right now (doing some fan replacements) 2 were originally 60GB models and 1 is an 80
That Star Wars game looks fucking amazing. PC gamers are whining about it for reasons I do NOT understand... running on a high-end PC, looks technically marvelous, solid shooting gameplay, gritty and mature Star Wars atmosphere. I am super psyched about it.

I bet it launched on next-gen and current-gen consoles both, along with a really scalable PC version.

Nah Ninty did a dumb move they made the 3ds a seperate event... at a time when half of the world is asleep :S

Yeah it's a rental, another thing to notice is it didn't hit until the ps3 got it's jailbreak all in all I'd say it was just a way to stop the casual pirates "Pay us and get X games free a month"

Trevor stayed in Poland this time, so I guess we won´t see no videoconference from Caifornia this time.
square-enix should have done a show at E3 I think they would have won.. as does RPS check out the link the game looks fun :P
So the tech specs of the wiiU are out.. it's an xbox360... no seriously the only change is a slightly (~2 years) newer GPU and a very slightly upclocked PPC chip... once again Ninty is using older hardware to keep prices down (not that we know them) but the controller is rumoured at $120ish D:

Source? The specs I saw didn't state clock speeds for the CPU or GPU. Rumors did say it would have 1.5GB of RAM maybe 2GB if it's true that the updated SDK modified that.
