orcishgamer: Umm, tons of games only allow you to move "forward". Just because you push on the stick to make it go doesn't mean you get any choice in the direction. I have to check the latest Fable The Journey videos but they keep claiming "it's not on rails", at least, we'll see though.

Elenarie: Okay, let's take that Rise of Nightmares game. Since Kinect's purpose is to sense motion, what if I want to kick something behind me, jump backwards and turn around at the same time, run from side to side, and do similar things?

Keyboard and mouse don't give you the illusion that you're chained to use only certain gestures.
I'm sorry, how many games can you do that in? I'm glad those kinds of games exist too, but you're being rather obstinate, a lot of people talk about "corridor" games and they're really not much different than what you're complaining about here. There's tons of game types out there and certainly not all of them suffer from the limitations that you see in many Kinect titles. Do you literally only play sandbox games?
Spies vc Mercs mode is BACK IN THE NEW SPLINTER CELL. BEST ANNOUNCEMENT SO FAR.

Ok sorry for caps, but that was awesome. I loved the spies vs mercs multiplayer in Splinter Cell, and it was very sad to see it taken out from Conviction. Im glad they listened to their fans and brought it back. And that was the reason i didnt buy SC HD Collection, they took the multiplayer out. Lame.

Their new game Watch Dogs looks pretty good too.

The Microsoft conference, on the other hand, was TERRIBLE. Kinect this, kinect that, smartglass, some Nike BS and no games other than Halo 4, Forza Horizon and a lame teaser for the new Gears of War. Disappointing. All the other games shown were multiplatform.

I liked the new look of Halo 4 shown in the gameplay footage. It did indeed feel different to Bungies Halo. I think it was great that the series is moving into a different direction, all 5 Halo games were pretty much the same with just a few improvements at each new iteration (of course im not couting Halo Wars). To be honest the atmosphere and enemies felt more like Metroid Prime than Halo. Im still a bit skeptical about this, though, since i dont know if 343 Industries will be able to deliever what they promised.

My point is, with a keyboard and a mouse, you know that these are tools that you use to give commands to your character, but you're aware that this way of inputting commands is unnatural, and you're aware of the limitations.

With motion sensing, you're being told that your movements are being recorded, processed, and the data is then used to make your character do something in game. But the truth is different, only certain motions are captured, and the game mechanics react to only those predefined emotions.

You would expect motion sensing to be a natural way to input commands, but in reality, it is not a natural way at all. It feels terrible when you do a motion thinking your character would slap the enemy in his face, instead he opens up the map.

The limitations forced by Kinect, and all other motion sensing technologies, for now, worsen the experience.

With a new console due out in the next 18 months did you really expect there to be anything we didn't know about at the MS show??
SALUDOS GOG ELMOFONGO ESTA AQUI :)

anyways what did I miss?

No, it doesnt. Kinect offers a different experience than a traditional controller, it isnt worse or better, its just different. Motion controllers offer an experience you cant have with traditional controllers.

Im not a big fan of motion controllers myself, but i think that youre souding a bit too elitist and thats kind of annoying.

But seriously, they needed more games. In the conference it sounded like they had completely forgotten that the Xbox 360 is mainly a a games console. Im pretty sure most gamers dont give a fuck about Nike whatever fitness, bing voice search and IE. Oh yeah, i forgot to add that they took a fucking E3 conference to announce IE FOR XBOX. HAIL THE BEST BROWSER EVER.

I mean, cmon, the PS4 is also probably around the corner, i doubt Sony will take too long after the next Xbox to release their new console (especially after the PS3 launch fiasco) and look at how many exclusives they still have for PS3. Just to name those that i remember off my head we have The Last pf Us, PS All Stars Battle Royale, GOW Ascension, the new Quantic Dreams game, Sly Cooper 4, a new Ratchet game, The Last Guardian (if it ever comes out) and there are rumors about a Rockstar PS3 exclusive.

Neobr10: No, it doesnt.
Well, to me, it does. I find it bad when I have to use my right arm to do some specific slow motion to pick up an item. Why can't I use my left arm or do a very fast motion with my right arm, just like in real life?

Until motion capturing / sensing can achieve that, it would feel very limited, at least to me.

the game looks like Assassin's Creed if it takes place in a modern setting
it looks interesting but I am not going to sell my soul over this game

Why? They aren't that big a publisher and showed all of the games they are publishing this year, EA and Ubi can do their own advertising of games...

Because they have a console in the market that needs exclusive games to distinguish itself from the competition?

about splinter cell: egh still don't care for the game it still looks like conviction hell it's conviction 2.0

about halo 4: Hopefully the campaign will be better implamenting a doom/half-life/system shock style campaign instead of linear level 1 and level 2 in mission select
also multiplayer is meh they just added call of duty's customazation/perk system still nothing new and innovative

except it's EOL for it, most games they announced this year wouldn't be releasing until the next console is out instead. This is a basic confirmation that Durango is out next holiday season

Now compare it to Sony. Look at how many great exclusives the PS3 will still get. And like i said, the PS4 should be just around the corner. Theyll certainly announce it next year, but they sill didnt give up on making exclusives for PS3. This makes ot even more clear that Sony does seem to care more about their consoles longevity than Microsoft.

Anyway, 1 minute till the Sony conference.

PS4 is 24-36 months off sorry to burst your bubble it's not even hit hardware lockdown yet.
