cogadh: Then allow me to recap for you:
The clue posted this morning on Twitter reads like this:
"The return of incredible karmic awareness."
One of the more compelling arguments is that this is a reference to Troika:
The Return Of Incredible Karmic Awareness.
However, there are issues with that, not the least of which is the possibility that this could mean Activision is coming to GOG. Several people are also taking the "karmic" reference to somehow mean it has something to do with the Ultima games, frankly, I don't get it and it seems like an unreasonable stretch to me.
Last but not least, it appears capfitz may have set himself up to eat a sock casserole, no matter what publisher/dev/game we end up getting on Thursday.

Lone3wolf: I'm inclined to think that's a lot of a reach. Along the lines of Arnold Schwarzenegger's "FUCK YOU" memo the other month....happenstance twisted into desire by people with far too much time on their hands...

I would agree, if it wasn't for the fact that the GOG guys (unlike the Governator) planned on and told us in advance that they were providing us with clues that contain intentional hidden meaning. They planned the wording, layout and timing of these clues with just this kind of puzzle in mind.

Starkrun: I don't think you get what GOG's about my friend... For the most part we are weirdo's of the gaming community... we enjoy the obscure strange titles from yesteryear... we like games that don't work and have bugs coming out of there ears... Troika had 5 games and they were all great in there own right....
beyond that, why bash a company like this its not very nice, you have no idea what it takes to be a fan of something it seems. Scores don't mean anything, esp form Metacritic.

Whoa there, buddy.
A) Why bash a guy for having an opinion? I enjoy "strange titles of yesteryear" as much as the next guy.
B) I already own two of Troika's games. They're good. But I'm not, apparently, drinking the same Kool-Aid that makes one think Troika's games coming to GOG would be *the biggest thing in the history of GOG*.
Breathe deeply.
OOOoooo Ultima --- Ultimate, the GOG staffers have used the term "Ultimate" to describe this a lot, a helluvalot... and i mean every single time they can that word is used...
I have two guesses.
1.) 7th Guest and 11th Hour?
or
2.) Zork Series (Zork 1, 2, etc. Nemesis, Zero)

vlight: Can't just anyone hack-in the GOG servers and steal the secret? :D
OK, maybe not .... or maybe?... :P

where is arkose when you need him?

How would either of those guesses be the biggest announcement in the history of GOG?
Whatever the announcement will be, the halt of these speculations will leave a vacuum on the GOG boards :-D.
It's simple and obvious folks. GOG is going to release the classic versions of Quattro Pro and Lotus 1-2-3.
Almost 1,000 posts in just a few days, I'm surprised it isn't front page news on CNN yet.....

Not really. This thread will just evolve into a thread about what GOG SHOULD have released. All the System Shock/Ultima/Troika/EA/Sierra/Blizz fanboys will be complaining they were wrong.

Ooh, you have a point there...

Al1: I don't know how someone is supposed to stay sane in a place like this

Doh ! I didn't know we had to ! And I'm pretty sure that I have read the FAQ a couple times.
Man, that'd be great to see (defunct) Troika's stuff coming here - TOEE, Arcanum, and Bloodlines. All awesome games that were even better, once modders got a hold of them and fixed the technical issues and bug issues.
Act-Blizzard owns their stuff and publishing rights, right?
I'm excited.. So many titles I want to see. Can't wait.. :)

And gog, being aware of this, go ahead and do it anyway, as a double-bluff? hmmmmm
