Forum Clue: No Idea after skimming all posts, it seems we've already guessed it, master chef and microsoft puns all over the place ive seen.

About Troika, Ive already wrenched out of them in a prior posting about 4 months back that they "WERE INDEED" looking to secure them as a publishing company and there games. Troika has come up far to often in this investigation and by GOG staffers as an absolute goal they have had and "WERE" currently working on/twords.
My vote and goal is TROIKA... past information mixed with the logic of the HIVE MIND leads me to this....

No offense, but I don't think a defunct game company that produced three games averaging 77% on Metacritic would be "the biggest thing to happen to GOG since the site opened".
I think we have to focus on that statement... it means it has to be bigger than when they got Ubisoft... which means it's a publisher deal, and a big one at that.

Wishbone: The time clue made me think of Timeshift

GET OUT.
In all seriousness, TimeShift was fun, but I don't think it's what they're referring to by any means. That game is too new.
I have the answer!
It's 42!

What's going on then, have I missed anything?

Al1: Oh god...it's been horrible. baseless conjecture, deconstructions of nonsense sentences, I don't know how someone is supposed to stay sane in a place like this

Shhhhh. It's okay, the nice men in the white coats are here now with your medicine. Everything will be all right.
I don't think you get what GOG's about my friend... For the most part we are weirdo's of the gaming community... we enjoy the obscure strange titles from yesteryear... we like games that don't work and have bugs coming out of there ears... Troika had 5 games and they were all great in there own right....
beyond that, why bash a company like this its not very nice, you have no idea what it takes to be a fan of something it seems. Scores don't mean anything, esp form Metacritic.

TheCheese33: That game is too new.

It was '07. Just like Parallel Lines.
I liked the weapons in that game.

I agree that the game is too new for GOG, but I didn't mean it as a reference to the game itself, but to the publisher.

He just missed the real significance behind the Troika clue: the companies that published their games. If the clue does reference Troika, then it is just part of what the GOG guys are trying to tell us, which is most likely that someone like Activision or EA has signed on.

Wishbone: People seem hell bent on linking Karmic Awareness with Ultima. My first thought on reading those words (before the TROIKA thing was pointed out) was Black & White, which would point to EA (some people mentioned it in connection with MS for some reason, but as far as I can tell it was published by EA).
The time clue made me think of Timeshift, which means Sierra, which in turn means ActiBlizz.
Man, thursday is a long way away...

I wouldn't call it hell-bent, but Ultima does fit both clues (thereby leaving EA in the running so far IMO). I didn't know much about it, but the wikipedia entry for the series makes the possible association obvious, time travel and the Eight Virtues (hence the karma clue) are integral concepts of the series. Amazon shows 7 copies of the Ultima Collection of games I-VIII for sale, at a hefty $40+ USD for the cheapest copy. Sounds like there could well be brisk GOG business with it. As others have noted, it's the significance of "Ultima's presence = EA bringing their huge back catalogue to GOG" that would make this a countdown-worthy announcement.

cogadh: Then allow me to recap for you:
The clue posted this morning on Twitter reads like this:
"The return of incredible karmic awareness."
One of the more compelling arguments is that this is a reference to Troika:
The Return Of Incredible Karmic Awareness.
However, there are issues with that, not the least of which is the possibility that this could mean Activision is coming to GOG. Several people are also taking the "karmic" reference to somehow mean it has something to do with the Ultima games, frankly, I don't get it and it seems like an unreasonable stretch to me.
Last but not least, it appears capfitz may have set himself up to eat a sock casserole, no matter what publisher/dev/game we end up getting on Thursday.

I'm inclined to think that's a lot of a reach. Along the lines of Arnold Schwarzenegger's "FUCK YOU" memo the other month....happenstance twisted into desire by people with far too much time on their hands...

Now, Marvin. Give us the question. ;D
Can't just anyone hack-in the GOG servers and steal the secret? :D
OK, maybe not .... or maybe?... :P

I agree.
It's 1 of several clues leading to Sierra.
I'm afraid this thread will cost me a lot of hours hours, a lot of thinking and a few headaches in the next couple of days.
Not to mention byting my finger nails to shreds.

Could karma be a ply talking about the UnrealEngine2 Karma Physics code? if it is then im chaing my vote to: Redneck Kentucky and the Next Generation Chickens
LOL, ok im kidding but Sierra would be very impressive, that have a great catalog that would fit nicely here. Makes sense too, though wouldn't that really move into Steamworks territory?
