Krankor: Or, to be hopelessly pedantic, the device id of 8, which could actually refer to a 1540, 1541, 1571, or possibly even 1581 (3.5" drive). The ,1 is a flag specifying that you are loading a machine language program instead of a BASIC program.
(What?!?! It's not like a thread with over 40 pages is going to seriously be derailed by my C64 reminiscences...)

I'm sticking with Ultima. Sure, I know what the first clue "spelled out" but I don't buy it.
Ultima 2 - Time travel through history and fantasy worlds.
Ultima 4 - Karma and virtue system integral to victory.
Origin is pretty unexcelled...

Yes; that would be the definition of “mistake¨ in the given context ;)
I can't decide if I'd rather see ActiBlizz on board or EA; on one hand, ActiBlizz gets me Sierra and Starcraft/Diablo/Warcraft 3; on the other hand, EA gets me Maxis and Sid Meier/Fireaxis.

The time travel surely points to EA, after all, they published the recent Red Alert game, as well as owning Westwood Studios (the original ones).

but ultima 2 was the last one to be published by sierra on-line, which is now part of acti/blizz...

I wouldn't have that thought that any game was "unexcelled". Especially EA games.
