(Reply/quote system acted up, and I had to manually patch up -- hope I got it right)
Delixe: And i say it was. Are you telling me GOG simply put together a random phrase to spell out Troika? A random phrase that just so happens to be a huge clue to Ultima?
Karmic System. Troika didn't use one, its an obscure reference if thats the case. Ultima however DID use a Karmic system.
captfitz: it's not a random phrase, it means something, but the more important meaning is the clue they put in there. TOEE is D&D and your character can be 'chaotic good' or other moral alignments, which it could easily be referring to. or it could be another clue on its own. but there is absolutely no way that troika is a coincidence. if the hint is karma, why did they put 'incredible' and 'awareness' in around it? those are both entirely unnecessary to the clue and slightly awkward there anyway, they were just needed to spell out troika.
Just for the hell of it, I feel I should point out that the developers that made up Troika were heavy developers in Fallout, which did have a Karma system (right there on the character sheet for everyone to see). So the games written by Troika Games did not have Karma, but some of the games written by Troika developers did. I actually had to stop and think about the Troika Games part, because I initially (incorrectly) made the Karma==Troika connection through Fallout...
