I wouldn't be surprised to see the website updated along with the new publisher now.

Keep in mind that they've already stated they're bringing to GOG one of the top three publishers. So if it's a publisher it's almost certainly EA. ActiBlizz would be huge (in a slightly ominous way). But they're hardly voted for at all in the Wish List, which EA dominates. Lucasarts are also popular, but are in no way among the top three.

darthcobley: could be the next version of the site?

They won't hyperbole an update.
I had a look through the html and javascript that renders the count down, and there doesn't seem to be any clues at to what it is counting down too.
Ideally I wanted to find:
if countdown == 0 then
showmsg("EA's entire catalog now available on steam, DRM free!")
end if
:)

Did they ever actually say that? I thought they just said "something big" or "a new publisher", and everyone assumed that meant EA or another publisher they want. You know, sort of like with every Thursday since the site became public :p
Those of you thinking the sci-fi background is a hint, just remember GOG uses outer space and earth as backdrops in lots of things..

That'd be awesome.

Orvidos: BioWare/Black Isle/Infinity Engine

Well Bioware is owned by EA these days, black isle was Interplays internal studio and Atari owns right to distribute Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale and Planescape. Interplay already offers everything it owns here as they desperately need money so your pick would fall on either EA or ATARI. I'd be happy with either.

Now why would GOG advertise games becoming available on it's competitor Steam? I'd rather have CD Projekt buy Valve (and thus steam) drop steam client and offer all former steam games The GOG Way(TM).

Had a good laugh over that page

DrIstvaan: Eeeh. The staff sure knows how to tease users, now don't they? ;-) I wonder if they sit at their desks, laughing their arms off at the community's suggestions..

I think you are right.

It was on Twitter. Then linked to via a thread here. I don't remember the exact wording, but I suppose ultimately it would depend on how you define the top three publishers. However you do so though, EA is there.
Well there goes my tax refund :P

It was in an article. 100% sure.

The timer started on what? 05d 20h 00min?
IIRC, it would be 3 announcements? one in 2009, and the following 2 announcements in the first quarter of 2010, this is correct?
(Can't quote myself on this forum).

I can't really read the polish article, but the two twitters are the ones I remember. People took "huge" to mean "Top three" to mean "EA".
