DG: After reading here, i think it will be a publisher deal. A BIG publisher deal. So which one? Activation? Atari? Lucas? Sierra? These publishers hold the best old games out there, so it must be one of them. I hope it will be Atari, because i want all the D&D old games and Driver 1. And some other games i forgot right now (or i don't know which publisher has them).
It cant be Valve. And it was hinted it will not be EA. MS can't be (and they don't have great old games either).

I doubt it will be only one publisher since it is the biggest thing since the launch of the site...
I really hope it's Infogrames/atari.
I'd love to see the Discworld series and Outcast on GOG.
It's pretty unlikely, but I'll keep dreaming

Atari published GOG affiliate CDP's The Witcher. And they got them to agree on a disk check only for that one, and no DRM at all eventually. Not impossible. :)

God only knows who owns the rights to the Discworld games now. Perfect Entertainment folded, started again as Teeny Weenie Games then folded again. I guess some publisher must have picked them up at some point.

aaaarrrggg! don't get my hopes up ;-)
From what I gathered over the years SCUMM tried to get the games released as freeware. When Perfect & Teeny Weenie folded the rights were returned to terry pratchett, but the publisher kept rights over distribution. So the rights started with Psygnosis who were bought out by GT Interactive who were later bought out by infogrames.
It's just one big mess. But there's still hope I guess

My hunch is still on Deus EX or signing up with id Software. But if I have to make the most wildest of guesses that will never come true, how about Duke Nukem Forever getting released through gog.com ?! If it does, it will be * AWESOME *
Yeh yeh I know about the court case battle between 3DR and T2 and I know it will not be DNF. But I am still hoping on id Software to join up with gog.

Partha: signing up with id Software

That means Bethesda, which I see as quite unlikely.

Zenimax, now. They own both.

Do people make this guess based on just the use of the word Unexcelled? Deus Ex is widely available, just not on GOG. While Deus Ex is a superb game, a classic it is hardly warranting of a countdown and fanfare.

Wasgo: I'm certain based on the clues that it's Halo. The countdown is positioned to be replaced with the letters H, A, L and O. The words unexcelled can easily refer to something from Microsoft other than Excel and the graphic would work perfectly for Halo as well. In addition, it meets the criteria for a game that was previously mentioned.
While Halo might not be the most exciting game, if Microsoft is now supporting GOG.com it would be a huge coup, as it would be an amazing signal to other publishers than the GOG.com method should be supported.
Also, Microsoft is a top 3 video game publisher by revenue: http://kotaku.com/5030320/here-are-the-top-20-publishers-in-the-business-ranked-according-to-cash-money-intake. Not sure if that's accurate for PC games, but I'm certain that would still hold for gaming revenue.

Almost got it, but no. This is only about Gog now selling old classic versions of MS Excel spreadsheets, from 97-xp. : )

The publishers that would come with it would be.
I expect that all current GOG games will be converted into Excel spreadsheet form.

Amazing! I can just move "give me the yellow page" to the "Solved" column in Myst, and I win! No more fireplace puzzle!
Geeze. I'm away for a few days and this is what happens. A full 30 pages of lactative nerdgasm speculation to sift through.
