"Some of you were close or had the right guesses" means it won't be EA or Lucasarts or possibly not a publisher's announcement, since I'm not so sure any publisher would be the biggest announcement ever and lots of people have been guessing the same thing, not just some.
I don't want to wade through 26 pages. Someone more neurotic than me please check what were the guesses that fit the criteria.
I'm wondering if it's some sort of new service that'll put GOG in the map big time.

insanity99: hmm a game we all want perhaps? baldurs gate?

There is no "game we all want".

Wishbone: There is no "game we all want".

True. We've all got different tastes. Any anyway, we're not going to be so interested in games that are readily available and work on Windows 7 anyway (Baldur's Gate). The more popular candidates are either very hard to get hold of or simply don't work on modern OS.

DrIstvaan: OK, here's my last bet, at least until tomorrow. It will be either of these two things.
-A publisher deal with LOADS of games (maybe even more than Interplay), which is "unexcelled" by other GOG publishers.
-A dtamatic improvement to the site and forum in terms of functionality, which is comparable to the very creation of GOG.

Well, we know the second or third announcement will be a publisher deal and a huge one. That is, apparently, fact.
And it's already been stated that this announcement won't be in the same category as the creation of GOG. So that rules out site updates/coming out of beta/some new service being offered through GOG.

I dunno, roll in the hay with stunningly beautiful/handsome person of the opposite gender is a fun game we all enjoy.

So, it steers the chances to no.1, then? Interesting...

Finally someone who actually bothers to bring this up to those still speculating.
Thumbs up to you.

Although it does beg the question: how are they defining the top three?
If it's in general then the only one vaguely applicable would be MS. Which would make sense for numerous reasons. unEXCELled. And the fact that GOG are interested in striking up some kind of Games for Windows or Compatible with Windows 7 deal.
Alternatively, GOG are focussing on the PC top three, in which case it's most likely ActiBlizz, seeing as EA has effectively been shot down by Mikee.
2010 - GOG annexes Canada, GOG abducts ex-SirTech staff, GOG Studios opens, GOG buys the license for Jagged Alliance, GOG makes Jagged Alliance 3, GOG buys X-Com license, GOG releases a DLC for JA3, containing 3 X-Com titles, Shodan meets AM, Shodan and AM have babies, the dungeon collapses, we die.

GOG aquires Valve and releases HL2 EP3.

And on their way, they remake EP2 and do it right.;)
I hope it's Baldur's gate/BG2/Neverwinter nights... Planescape: Torment would be awesome, too. Though it's probably going to be bigger than that...
avatar
Mikee: adventure like quests and puzzles;-)

Ummm... Puzzle Quest 0_o ? That would mean that GOG announces that it will publish indie games... Which would be both awesome and plausible.

Arteveld: (...) the dungeon collapses, we die.

Nonono... Rocks fall, EVERYONE DIES.
Also - call me an insensitive bastard, but this is a lot more hilarious now than even before ;P...

Kyojinmaru: It could be Eidos, they have so many good games:
Thief Series

i agree with Deus Ex, but Thief is unlikely as they don't like multi-cores and the cut scenes are thoroughly borked on modern systems........... i'd love to be proven wrong however.

dames i'd like to see from this super announcement:

> Baldurs Gate 2 Gold edition
> Planescape Torment
> Medieval Total War Gold edition
> Worms 4 Mayhem
> Hearts of Iron II Gold edition

Jagji56: ...
Dude, you think you have gone a little to far there? I mean, come on! if you magnifier it by HOW MUCH? and you counted HOW MANY? You really have no life, do you...

Thanks for the laugh but yes it was a joke. Just a light hearted piss take on some of the crazy ideas people seem to be pulling out of nothing.
avatar
Weclock: It's totally Nintendo.
Come on, like isn't it overtly obvious that the countdown timer is so very similar to the first level in Metroid, when you have the countdown timer going down, because the ship is going to explode?
Seriously people, get your act together. It's totally Nintendo.

That would actually work better for the first space quest game, where you start on the ship with the timer counting down until it explodes. Games already on the PC and space quest are good games generally.
I know your joking as well but just saying :P

I'll stick with kicking the staircase.:P Never much cared for tabletops, the GMs had no imagination and flexibility at all. Adding to that, i'm a D&D hater.;P

Ship's self destruction sequence is engaged, detonation in 5 minutes!
Glad to see someone who appreciates Sierra's games!:)
