rewsan: It could be Sega as they have shown that they are happy for the emulation of their systems through Gametap.
avatar
Navagon: It would also be relying on the 80s definition of 'top three publishers'. It would be cool to see emulated Sega games here though.

We don't know that this is going to be the 'top 3' announcement though. Didn't the interview say in the first quarter of this year. If that's the case we have another couple of months of that left.

I think my mind will blow up before thursday. Planescape Torment sounds possible to me. I don't think any System Shock is involved, since they're not that famous.
Monkey Island (or LucasArts in geneal) could be another interesting possibility.
Wow, Ultima... :-O

It could be Eidos, they have so many good games:
Deus Ex
Thief Series
Tomb Raider Series
Legacy of Kain Series
Fighting Force
Final Fantasy VII & VIII
Ninja: Shadow of Darkness
It would be a very big announcement having all these games at the same time in GOG.

It's totally Nintendo.
Come on, like isn't it overtly obvious that the countdown timer is so very similar to the first level in Metroid, when you have the countdown timer going down, because the ship is going to explode?
Seriously people, get your act together. It's totally Nintendo.

Sweet muffins of doom, I hope not. That would be so disappointing.

LordCinnamon: Just don't start hoping fervently for one specific publisher/announcement. Then it'll be all good. It's bound to be something positive, so just look forward to it.

I suppose there's the possibility that this announcement and the 'top three publisher' announcement are not one and the same. They're promising three big announcements and this coming one will only be the second after all.
But then 'top three publisher' and 'best thing to happen to GOG' kind of go hand in hand. It's too much to hope for that they're separate announcements.
So I should save my money for the upcoming announcement?
This mystery is taking time off Theme Hospital, those bloaty patients need me you know.

I was kidding, of course it's not Nintendo.

THIS post is hilarious.
I will be pretty shocked if its not Deus Ex (ie eidos); with EA a runner up. But I heve guessed wrong with every other big announcement on gog - so what do I know.
hmm a game we all want perhaps? baldurs gate?
though if they have a deal with Atari that wont be all. since they hold the rights to dungeons and dragons we may also get neverwinter nights!

Mikee: That's what we really love dear fans and customers:) But to be honest, this is just few days, is it such a big pain?:) We have ideas for definitely more painful actions in future;)
Some of you guys were damn close or even had a right guesses. So the answer is within;) The answer is (as usual) not the easiest and definitely not the most obvious, though.
But hints were given. And this is gonna be the biggest announcement ever in the GOG history (maybe except the opening of the site itself but this is different category;).

Painfull actions? Hmm... I think we are totally on the wrong track here people... might be some horrible games coming up.
In that respect you cant get much worse than Bethesda, this would definitely take the good out of "gog" which should be definitely the biggest news since the launch. And if thats not enough then the simultaneous release of Oblivion will take care of the other "g".
Any bets on the new site title? "horrible old chores"?

"Steam Powered."
ZING!
OK, here's my last bet, at least until tomorrow. It will be either of these two things.
-A publisher deal with LOADS of games (maybe even more than Interplay), which is "unexcelled" by other GOG publishers.
-A dtamatic improvement to the site and forum in terms of functionality, which is comparable to the very creation of GOG.
