Thiev: and Take Two was mentioned in earlier posts... ;)

Hell yeah !
And even if "unexcelled" doesn't refer to my beloved Max, MobyGames lists X-COM (AKA "the best PC game ever") as Take-Two's property... along with Lemmings and Sheep (and more obvious titles, such as GTA)...
Then again - it also says they own Sacred, Port Royale 2 and Tropico 0_o.
Also - they appear to own the right to the two good Blair Witch Project games (although - I may be against the second installment in large part due to the translation I had to suffer, which sounded as if the guy responsible was doing for his ex-wife)...

X-Com is indeed now with Take-Two. Hard to find exactly what they own because they had a slice of the Sierra pie as well. Civilization is the obvious biggie, as are the GTA games, Manhunt, Red Dead Revolver, Max Payne, Midnight Club, Jade Empire, Bioshock, Prey and.. erm Outlaw Golf.

Vestin: OK - get this - "unexcelled" = "max" xD ! It all fits...

Well, Take Two would be pretty big. Given that 2007 games are coming to GOG now, Bioshock would certainly qualify as unexcelled as far as Metacritic is concerned.
I suppose it would also mean Civilisation GTA and Mafia. Well, I don't know. I'd certainly like to see Take Two here in any case as I'd like a copy of Mafia I could once again install.

Vestin: If unexcelled IS a clue, then it truly is Zork. That would be... a bit underwhelming, though highly amusing.
Other than that - we know it isn't obvious, so no SS2, P:T or EA...
LucasArts or Sierra ? Possibly...
Would be damn impressive to finally get our hands on the Monkey Island series, now, wouldn't it ?
The problem is - most highly impressive things are also the most predicted and thus - moot.
What was the most awesome and understressed thing we have come up with on these 18 pages ?

Mikee: :-)
..The counter I mentioned just BTW (but rest not - read carefully;)

Well hey... I got a couple of GOG codes just lyin' around, ready to be used. Perhaps we can help each other out? *wink*
Well, I was able to get us a bit of info....and more tidbits to chew on....
Let's compile a list of every guess that has been mentioned multiple times up to the point that Mikee posted (I believe he said "correct guesses" in the first reply).
I'm more excited about this than I have been about a lot of releases of anything -- books, movies, you name it...(Starcraft and the Harry Potter releases are close).
Ohhh!!!! So excited!!!!
Unexcelled? They must be hosting OpenOffice.
Man, if GOG manages to get Crusader, we might not see Vagabond around for a little minute :D

He said, and I quote, "a right guesses" - so I'm guessing they'll be releasing a fault in the space-time continuum making it possible for the guesses to be both one and several at the same time, perhaps even existing before Mikee's post when they're actually being typed much later.

Top three publishers. Not the most obvious. Which would rule out EA given that it's been the most popular suggestion. We're not getting Nintendo here any time soon either. Activision Blizzard has been mentioned, but only in passing. But I'm not sure where the unexcelled would come into play there though.
I will say this, and I will say no more:
Blarf.

Ummm - what about two of my guesses ?
X-COM (1) *WAS* mentioned as #1 PC game of all time at various places and unexcelled is the absolute maximum, hence - Max (2).
Maybe there is a message in the stars?
I can see an S.

No, Wealin, this is not Blizzard.
Yeah, I've already checked the page's source regardless ;P.
Also - the counter does NOT blink.

That's a Take Two title. Unexcelled decribes it well enough. Even if I do personally prefer Apocalypse.
But I'm pretty sure they're not in the top three publishers, even if I would personally rank them above ActiBlizz. I'd rather see Take Two here. But where does that leave the "top three publishers" clue?

Well, they DO have the most popular MMO ever, bar none before or after so far.
At least, that is ONE of the many possible interpretations of the word - unsurpassed (no one said in what way, might be extremely specific).
I would like to see Warcraft, Warcraft 2, and Diablo here.
Also, Activision - see "unexcelled hate of gamers".
