melchiz: GOG acquired by Activision for $500,000.

/raaaaaaaaaage
The people asking for specific games are not thinking big enough. We have had big games released here and big publishers before (Ubisoft) but GOG has never felt the need to make a countdown for them. I'm pretty sure its a publisher and several games, thats the only thing that will justify the countdown.
IMO Big announcement EA. Games released: Dungeon Keeper, System Shock, Wing Commander 1&2 all for $5.99 each (I can dream). Then the coming soon page will have delights like Dungeon Keeper 2, Wing Commander 3, System Shock 2, Theme Park, Ultima collection (1-5) and Ultima 6.

captfitz: it's going to be a new publisher but be be realistic, it's not EA or Lucasarts. I will eat my sock if it is either. GOG often does tease with mysterious twitter announcements and such. This is obviously a little bigger but... I don't think we should all be trampling the joy of it with ridiculous expectations.

They're justified.

If it was my birthday I would understand the ruckus, but it's not. The countdown must be for something else. Something futile.

Hell, I'd be happy if they decided to charge $9.99 for every title of theirs! I would pick and choose the ones I want, and would be happy to get them at all. I think they need to charge $9.99 for System Shock 2, if it is one of the games coming soon.
Ugh, a countdown? Really? Cheap bit of kojima-esque hype building, it'd better end a shitload better than his seem to. I'll look again next week.
If its EA, I'll likely be broke rapidly
With the space background and the X in the clue, my guess would be either an offering from the X-Com series (Microprose) or an X-Wing game (LucasArts). I think the X has to do more with the name of the game than the publisher.

Tell me about it. The entire time I kept thinking it was going to be a remake or sequel to Snatcher, especially since he said he wouldn't be making any more MGS games.
Then look what happened.
The "X" is meaningless, its just part of how you actually spell those words.
Unexcelled is the same as saying Unsurpassed, except that Un-excelled is not actually a word. So we should be expecting something that has yet to be surpassed. Top of it's game, best thing ever kind of game.

the space background is a very standard visual theme when they have promos, don't read into it
also, maybe they meant a publisher from one of their top three wishlisted games?

Wasn't he supposed to be working on a new Policenauts game? These days all Kojima can make is Metal Gear and make it badly at that.

Definitely better than Kojimas I assure you. :P
In a surprising twist ..... Mass Effect 2 for $5.99 =)
square enix is only on that list because of eidos, if they hadn't bought eidos they'd never ever be on the top pc games of all time list
