RolodeX: Well, since nobody complained yet... I'm sad.
The only games I'll be interested are the Leisure Suit Larry ones, if they are part of the deal... Finished Gabriel Knight already, no reason to play it again and didnt like arcanum very much when it was released... maybe will now, I dont know...

No thirst for the Quest series? None at all? How about Betrayal At Krondor?:)
avatar
Runehamster: Now I have half a mind to try it!
avatar
Arteveld: Oh, so You're the half brained one.;P
Maybe i have a full brain then, and that's why i never cared for FF.;P I can lend You my half of the brain once in a while, that way, i'll learn wht FF is so cool, and You'll see the world from a whole different perspective. ;)

Ehh, I'll freely admit the Final Fantasy games aren't for everyone. They require a ludicrous amount of time to play, and a freakish dedication to endless, mindless, repetitive tasks with strategy elements and item collection.
:') How I love them.

Runehamster: I had forgotten Activision made Mechwarrior! Omigosh! I shall check GOG religiously, every day!
I still have my disc for Mechwarrior 2...haven't been able to run it in years and years :(

Just check on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Those are the days GOG releases games.

But...they might be early. Or something.
...it won't hurt to check.

Well, from what i've played [about 3/4 of VII], they did require time, they were also painfully linear and, well, simple [as in, oozing with simplicity]. I was raised on Ultimas, and Krondor and such, so i find the jrpg recipe painfully basic. Didn't see much strategy there though, the combat seemed pretty narrow. Looking at it now, i'm amazed how far i've managed to get. Anyhow, does "Squee" have anything other to offer apart from the [never the] Final Fantasy series?
As for mindless, endless, repetitive, i have Rogue, roguelikes and such.;P

Seriously, no. Never got much into any of the Quest games. May give it a try if they release a compilation pack for a fiver... Betrayal didnt age very well in my opinion...
Btw, you Avatar just brought me another tear... The red Bobba Fett games would also be a very cool addition. Actually, I've never played No Regret, only No Remorse (which is a two thumbs up game!)...
avatar
Tarm: As you can see I'm a bit confused. Exactly which developers\publishers does this deal bring to GOG?
avatar
TheCheese33: Well, there's Sierra, for starters, since Gabriel Knight will be coming out. Also, Troika, since there is Arcanum. I'd imagine the Sierra catalog alone would be crazy, but what I'm REALLY hoping for is a 7-compatible version of Zork Nemesis and Zork Grand Inquisitor.

Now I've checked Sierra games and that's more like it. :)
If anyone's interested this is my instant buy Sierra list: Heart of China, Earthsiege\Starsiege, Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance, MissionForce: CyberStorm (One of my all time favourites. Amazing game!) and various Pinball games.

Everything in Eidos's lock up. Which is a lot.

Umm. Okay.
Everyone's tastes are different :D
(*whispers* shuuuuun the unbeliever! shuuuuuuun!)

Delixe: That list is also incomplete. Phantasmagoria for example which would be perfect as a GOG.
avatar
DrBjorn: It's impossible for me to see the word "Phantasmagoria" without hearing Spoony's voice in my head.

PHANTASMAGORIA!!!!!!
Anyway, Arcanum and Gabriel Knight are two games I have wanted to play for YEARS. I'll be picking those up tomorrow that's for sure.

RolodeX: (privateer doesnt even work in DOSBOX)!

Quick notice: I've played Privateer, in DosBox. So yes, it does work. The music is just half as fast as it should be, but everything else is fine.
avatar
taczillabr: With EA doing the same, here at GOG.
avatar
Delixe: With Activision on board I think it's no longer if with EA but when.

Let the good old times roll!
avatar
Wolfox: No, really... how did you figure out? Newsletter already somewhere? Some image link? What?
I'm really curious... ;-)
avatar
Namur: Let's just say i have crazy google skills ;)

Google Alerts?
Sierra also means the Homeworld series - definitely GREAT old games.

I'm weird, i grew up on the Quest's, no other Sierra game will make me as happy as them, ever.;)
Well, I've recently played BaK, and i've got to say, it's not really that bad. But You're talking with a guy who praises Ultima Underworld in the 21st century. I don't care much for graphics, as long as they are not distracting, or painful for the eyes [like hires backgrounds, and lowres characters], like the Might and Magic series, which i've never gotten into, because of the aforementioned graphical issue.
The Silencer! Bobba Fett was a misfit mutant! Don't worry, GOG got Activision, EA will think twice before sending GOG away with their offer to join up. We're closer than ever now!;)
Now we can all play River Raid and await EA's surrender! HARR!:)
