With Troika-Arcanum and Gabriel Knight certainly answers to clues, ActivisionBlizzard is a done deal. If other clues point to some multiple-publisher annoucement, that's just icing on the cake.
Within that ActiBlizz (Sierra, Infocom, etc.) framework, how 'bout some more guesses on these remaining clues:
"They are two different characters, but they complement each other beautifully."
"Where history overlaps with the present time."
Oh - of course. It's Woodruff & the Schnibble. No..wait - Nord & Bert? Frick & Frack?
:p

Will I be hit by stones if I say I don't believe it's Activision? Bobby Kotick people. While I agree some clues lead you to believe Activision not all of them do.

Sure, he may hate both games and gamers, but he loves money and I'm pretty sure he'd take any easy opportunity to fatten his wallet.

Delixe: But Bobby likes $20. Thats his happy place on both Steam and the Bizz store. Why would they launch on GOG for $10 cheaper? Even Vampire: The Masqurade is $19.99 on Steam.
Maybe they're aiming for Sierra titles, like the Quests, or GK? Does Kotick even know he has them?:)
Smithers: Sir, we have a ton of really old stuff, shall we sell them for $20?
Mr Burns: No, Smithers, nobody would buy that... unleash the GOGs.

This thread should be considered closed, it is Sierra.
EDIT: Also, two of the likely games that we would get are NOLF2 and Contract J.A.C.K. Cate Archer and John Jack do complement each other pretty beautifully. H.A.R.M and J.A.C.K. I mean, seeing as that's the only clue that can't really be hammered down at this point.
I believe you, I think Sierra has gotten permission from Acti/Blizz to release games from franchises that they no longer care too much about.

chautemoc: Yes, there's a ton of reasons to have them on GOG instead, or in addition to box copies. Extras, preservation (future compatibility, prevention of loss, etc), support, no disk required, etc.
Indeed: several of the games I've bought here are games I already own on CD/DVD. Having them DRM-free and updated for compatibility with current versions of Windows is worth $5 or $10 to me. I have many of the Sierra games that have been mentioned here, but if they were available I'd probably buy them again just to eliminate the DRM.
