Runehamster: It's gotta be Final Fantasy 7. That game has never been surpassed, and is the only thing I can think of that would warrant this kind of incredible countdown. As for the hints:
The return of incredible karmic awareness
What better example of this than a dark corporation sucking a world dry versus a group of bandits that are trying to save it?
Where history overlaps with the present time
The steampunk/victorian/postapocalyptic/scifi feel of Final Fantasy 7 has never been surpassed.
They are two different characters, but they complement each other beautifully.
Sephiroth. Cloud.

LOL.

Except by Final Fantasy X which was the best IMO.

vlight: 1. The return of incredible karmic awareness.
Troika - is three of a kind, a collection of three.

EA Games
EA Sports
EA Play

2. Where history overlaps with the present time.
Electronic - present time
Arts - history
When they overlap we have: Electronic Arts

To say that those are reaching is a massive understatement

Vandal: You guys are going to kill us when we announce that this whole thing was all about our sponsorship of a Farmville item. :D Oh, and GOG-branded socks.

Great. Now I can't stop trying to remember if there's a game where you farm socks...
Ultima IX: Ascension is the only Ultima game i would ever be interested in.... the rest look like garbage... yes yes looks over story/gameplay but Ultima is so dated its unplayable in my eyes... unless ones dropped free/or demos exist someplace so i can try it and i get hooked i see no way i would ever pay for it...
Let's hope this is not like the take over of 1UP where the company taking over convinced that that was a good thing and the staff of 1UP was fired and the new staff posted a message saying something like "GREAT NEWS!" followed by terrible news.
Or to put it in short: let's hope GOG won't suddenly announce they've been bought out by Steam.
Google is never wrong. So... I typed 'Top Secret GOG announcement' and clicked on 'I'm feeling lucky.
Google's guess is:
After losing too much money to piracy, GOG are going to announce that they're going to instead sell Dog Pregnancy T-Shirts.
Try it and see!

At least the GOG team would fix all my broken STEAM games :)
But yes, that's a horrible thought!
<farnsworth>“Good news everyone! I'm here to announce that the staff have all been fired and that we won't be releasing any more games!”</farnsworth>
You read it in Farnsworth's voice. Admit it.

Boo hoo. I was the same about a great many games on GOG. Just because its not the game you want there is no need to start hating.
Hmm.
Gabe is scared or already knows something. (Psychonauts deal on Steam)

Heh, and Ultima VII is very playable even today because the combat was all automatic. The interface is still brilliant otherwise.
As Joss Whedon would say...
GRRRRRRRRRR, AARRRRGGHHH!
I can't waaaiiitt.

Indeed. It was quite a bizarre post, especially considering Ultima IX is both the most broken, least intuitive and least memorable of all the Ultimas.
