uulav: SSI catalog coming to gog.

I liked SSI, but TBH, I don't think their games have stood the test of time well. I dug out my old "Countdown to Doomsday" on my megadrive last month, and while playable, it's not pretty....

Luned: The clues, however, appear to be hints to either the first game or first few games (depending on interpretation) that will be released as part of the presumed new publisher deal. Thus the guesses about game titles point to the publisher.

Yes but Cogadh's point is it's more constructive to be talking about potential publishers rather than individual games. People are reading too much into the clues in an effort to prove individual games or individual developers.
Midway Games *sigh* :(

Point. I personally am happy to see every new publisher added here, though the biggest ones would be best for GOG in terms of potential sales volume, and hence IMO the only ones worthy of the staff going to the trouble of a countdown. I think EA has a slight edge at this point, but I'm going to be pleased with any (even better, all!) of them.

I'm not referring to the guesses about what game the clues might be referring to, I'm talking about all those guesses that the countdown is solely related to a single game or game series, like Ultima. I also keep seeing guesses that the announcement will be a particular dev, most notably Troika. While it is possible that one of the clues does refer to Troika (I'm not so sure anymore), it's not about Troika coming to GOG, its about Troika's publisher coming to GOG, which would mean ActiBlizz or Atari. Based on what some people have been saying here, it just doesn't seem like they understand that.

Jimmer1: I strongly suspect that I would lose control of at least 3 eliminatory functions spontaneously if it's EA...

I'd suggest preparing for the possiblity with towels and a keyboard cover

Delixe: Super Off Road

I'd SO buy that! One of my favourite games ever

Well, AB seems a reasonable suggestion, but still, one publisher gets a countdown? For what? Call of Duty and River Raid? I just can't believe it's 'just' one publisher.
I'll stick with cogadh about the clues referring to a publisher... But it's hard to believe that Activision/Blizzard is the publisher to be announced...
I bet on EA... Actually I pray for it... lol

More importantly if those came to GOG, the story delivery / journal entry / copy protection structure pretty much requires one of three things, printing the manual, having a second machine (or atl+tabbing a LOT) or playing windowed
How was that handled on the megadrive? Did you have to look up the story in the manual or had they integrated it into the game?

Adult diapers... or at least lay down a tarp.
Maybe the change of value from "dollars" to euros.
Euro is unexcelled for the euro symbol was not present in many older versions of excel:)
This change will raise the GOG income more than every publisher arrangement.
P. Hope not:)

If the number the countdown stars with is higher than the number of games that the deal will bring, it doesn't justify a counter. Troika sure as hell don't justify a countdown

Arteveld: Derek Smart's catalog coming to GOG! /joke

Will he get to moderate his games threads too?

If Your Desktop Commander has tools for that, sure.:P

But codadh said "its about Troika's publisher coming to GOG", therefore Sierra, therefore AB. In which case, it would be the coming of AB to justify the countdown, not Troika.;)

Planeforger: Perhaps the purpose behind these messages is simply to simulate the hype for the game itself, rather than to actually tell us specifics about the game.
