They already told me they planned to release it here, but that it's up to GOG if they want to take it. This doesn't necessarily mean that GOG is going to accept it, I know the guys who did the Dragon's Lair and Space Ace re-releases were supposedly turned down by GOG, so there could be any variety of reasons why the game might not fit in GOG's catalog (i.e. not truly DRM-free, not enough interest by the community in the title, etc.).

Dragon's Lair has 300+ wishlist votes. I can understand if GOG didn't bring it because of pricing issues (it's 9.99 on Steam when it's probably better at 5.99), but it kind of feels like a slap in the face to those of us who still want to see more good old games appear here.
I mentioned this on Twitter a few days ago, wondering how faithful it'll be to the Amiga one. They tweeted me assuring this would be faithful to the original Amiga version as it's being built on the original Amiga source code.
This is great news and raises a hope to see again Xenon 2 and Z.
Didn't these guys made an RTS with red robots? Or was it someone else...

Is it using the original art assets?

That I don't know.
This looks very interesting, Chaos Engine is a very good game.

However, I hope there will be an option to play it with the original assets, it do not need actually a HD update.

I got the impression from them that it would eventually come to GOG (maybe GOG is waiting for a price drop or something).

According to this article, the new features will be optional:
"Fans of the original can switch off the visual and control tweaks, and use "old school" generated passwords."

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It won't be an actual remake, it supposedly comes out in two months and that's too short a time to make something from the ground up. If I had to guess, it will be similar to how Raiden Legacy was made.

If you are referring to Bitmap Brothers, then yes, they were the ones who made Z, the game with red robots that you're referring to.
Awesome stuff. I loved The Chaos Engine back in the day, but sadly the DOS port didn't do it justice really, especially with the music (note that I never played the CD version, which I understand had Redbook audio?). Would gladly hand over money for a DRM-free version of this (hell, I'd even pay for a Steam version, but only in a sale).

Unless they've been developing it in the background for a while. It's not like the Bitmap Brothers have been particularly active...

Of course, even if it is a straight Amiga/CD32 port, it would still be welcome. But, please, please, please...not the DOS version.

I'm going to assume Barry's mantle here for a moment:

Wishlist links:
The Chaos Engine
Cadaver
Cadaver: The Payoff
Magic Pockets
Z
Z: Steel Soldiers
Gods
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe
Xenon
Xenon 2: Megablast

Aside from the fact that it was Amiga-only, I'm declining to list the atrocity unto gaming that was Chaos Engine 2.

A mere 37 votes for Cadaver?! What is wrong with you, people?
