Hello!

News on the net reported this game to be scheduled for sale on GoG. I don't see mention of this anywhere here at GoG so I would like to know whether this is true or not. I would any time choose GoG over Steam but if I am not given a choice there is not much I can do.

GoG, in their wisdom, never tells us this unless a game come up for pre-order. Only gog knows why...
I read it as well. However, preferable I’d like to pick the Linux version of the game up. But if Steam is the only way to obtain it, I might consider buying the Windows version here from GOG.com.

Loved the original Chaos Engine.

Maybe to prevent an outrage if plans fall through. Shit happens, yeah?

Unless that's what you were implying with that sly tone and I missed it.

strange how other sites manages....

When it is confirmed, it is confirmed. GoG will not tell even when confirmed.

Maybe they're collectively very casual people. When it comes, it comes, why announce stuff, they'll all see it anyway.

Case in point? Hammerwatch was released on Steam 10 days ago. There was no official notification on GoG that it would come here. If you wanted it at day 1, all you know was to get it from Steam or Humble. Maybe some would wait a few days if they also knew it was coming here...

Casual is one thing, but I sometimes just get the impression that GoG just don't care that much any more.

yeah: if there is no mention as to when it will be released here, i will just buy it off steam. Since they don't really have a release schedule here they must be losing at least some sales...maybe even a lot (in general, not only for this).

I just don't get why they don't a release schedule for indies or new games since al other site do.

Yes yes yes, I'm not one of those people but if GOG doesn't put up a Coming Soon notice some users might just go and buy the game from Steam.

This can certainly be true for new games! I understand keeping the re-releasing of old games a secret because problems are more likely to occur, but you should be able to easily see what new games are coming soon.
Okay, I contacted TheChaosEngine team on Facebook (forum rules do not allow me to post a link) and they confirmed me that just yesterday they spoke with GoG and the game will be distributed here.

I guess we'll just have to wait a little longer but I agree with those who believe this kind of policy is a step on the wrong direction: many would rather buy GoG releases instead of Steam but because of lack of information (I contacted the support about this and they replied quickly but only to say they can't disclose anything about their marketing strategies) they end up buying elsewhere.

I really like GoG and their philosophy so I want them to thrive. But they muse improve things a bit in the way of communication, I think.
