I like puzzle platformers :D What don't enjoy is hack-n-slash and/or games that are so difficult that there's no way you can ever finish them.

Has anyone played Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning for PS2? ... or maybe a different Spyro title is better?

I'll do that! Thank you!
Lots of great games recommended already, so I'll just add one that so far didn't get much attention in this thread: La-Mulana.

This game has the largest interconnected world of all platformers I know. It's not only huge, but also full of secrets, and also has many optional puzzles and passages that you can only reach with certain gear. Exploration is very rewarding in this game. There's also a complex backstory, though it suffers a bit from the translation. Bodd battles are difficult, but not excessively so.

I don't know the details. I just heard that they're working on it and have announced as much.

genkicolleen: +1 for all of you wonderful posters :D

Now I really want the Prince of Persia games (among many others!) Which one is number 2?

The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver games are on sale at Steam right now... $2.79 each or $7.99 for Legacy of Kain: Defiance, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, and Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain. Are they really good? Are there any other games you can compare them to?
Sorry should have been more specific in my list I meant the classic Prince of Persia and its sequel Shadow and Flame.

While Sands of Time is a classic with a great storyline I just have more nostalgia with this game.

I also didn't care for the newer Prince of Persia (2008) also titled the same, but you may find it at least interesting with a style all its own.

Thank you for the links! I went to youtube to check out the gameplay (plus found it cheaper on Ebay ;) )

I got on to my backup computer (aka my husband's computer) last night to look at a bundle that I was gifted last year. At the time I was only interested in Amnesia.

. . .

I now own TWO copies of several of those games, as I just bought or traded for several of them within the last month! Nice to be able to remove some of them from my wishlist, though!
Semi-related, I decided to try and make a list of GOG Metroidvanias since there's no way to search specifically for Metroidvanias via GOG's search tool. Mainly wanted to post it here so that if I missed any games some of the other users could let me know what else I should be adding. May be helpful for the TC too.

Thanks for any suggestions!
I see you mention 3D platformers as well, in that case the old Tomb Raider games shouldn't be ignored if you like atmospheric levels and rather hard to accomplish puzzles (requires a lot of exploring).
The old Tomb Raider games are light on story though and I think they where better because of it, in Angel of Darkness the story got more important but the gameplay got worse for it somehow.
Well, here's a platformer I had forgotten about, but I think is cool-

I couldn't find the game site for it, which is weird.
Hurrican (free Turrican Remake):

Probably nothing new here, but as far as PC platformers go, don't think you can go wrong with:

Trine 1 & 2
Limbo
Braid
Giana Sisters
Pid

But for my money, none of those come close to touching these classic Nintendo platformers:

Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, 3
Super Mario 64
Banjo-Kazooie
Banjo-Tooie
Have you tried Spate? I bought it last night and finished it just a few minutes ago. It's a short game (It took me just over two hours to finish it) but it's an excellent game. It's not exactly "challenging" in terms of gameplay, but it's great all the way around, from graphics, to story, to atmosphere, to narration, to characters and yes, gameplay too. Despite it's overall length, It is well worth the ten dollars it's currently being sold for.

I think Waking Mars belongs on that list, too, and if you include Soul Reaver - which speaks for a wider definition of the term Metroidvania that isn't limited to side scrollers - you could also include the Zelda-tributes Anodyne and Ittle Dew. (All three games feature the concept of advancing exploration through gaining new abilities / finding new ways to get to new areas.)

I wonder why Aquaria and Cave Story+ (still) aren't on GOG yet.

You already have a Rayman game in your list, why not pick up Rayman Origins? - and if you dont have it, get Giana Sisters: Rise of The Owlverlord.
Völgarr the viking is a good old-skool platfrmer too. These games is in gog's catalog.

And since you already have Dust: AET, go play it ASAP. To own that game and not play it, is a criminal offence ;)
