Sin2x: I believe nothing but my own eyes and cold hard facts, and suggest that you do the same. At this moment there are none, only nonconstructive FUD.
Well, the cold hard fact is that they have avoided the subject, or at least never really engaged it, despite the numerous questions asked on their forum, and despite the shistorm currently going on in the comment section of their latest update. Only news we had is a very confusing message in one of the comment about GOG not distributing the game yet, and the screenshot of a private mail...

It's probably only miscommunication from their part. "Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence" is a very useful motto. But it's grating, even to someone who defended them during the "delayed GOG release" argument like I did.

And the "3 men team which takes a well deserved break after an exhausting release" is an excuse I'm willing to agree on, but outsourcing their marketting is not. If you hire someone to do part of your job, their screwups are your responsibility.

EDIT : Just to be clear, I'm not asking for a GOG key, and I can undestand they could have trouble releasing a "backer only" edition on GOG. It would be nice, but I've got another possibility to get the game DRM free (well, as long as their forum and downloading server work, at least. And when I'm motivated enough to try 10-15 times a 2+ GB DL)
But I would really, REALLY like them to say it, just to be sure...

htown1980: Thanks for posting this Briareos. What absolute dickheads.

I guess this doesn't mean shit "A DRM-free version of the game is under development now and we are still working with GOG to distribute soon. This will also be available to all backers even if you downloaded a Steam copy."

I doubt there will be enough complaints from the community at large, however. Really disappointing.
No offense but this means exactly what it says and it's exactly what they delivered, it's simply ambiguously stated.

"A DRM-free version of the game is under development now [...] This will also be available to all backers even if you downloaded a Steam copy."

It's unfortunate they decided to put the reassurance it would come to GOG in the same sentence.

No offence to them being dev's, but don't you find it odd they seem reluctant to say much at all?.

No offence but, shit man, yes if you delete words that's what it reads…

I don't agree that they delivered what they promised. I backed the game so i could play it DRM free. I (and many others) don't have a DRM free version of the game. I, and many others, have tried several times to download it and it has failed. I, and many others, have limited downloads a month and have already spent several gigs trying to download this.

In my opinion, thats a shit way to treat people who took a risk on your project.

... that's not deleting words, it's a proper way of shortening a quote... and I did it that way to show the most likely way that sentence was supposed to be read.

As for not delivering what was promised. They did deliver it, the delivery method at the moment is simply borked, and that's something to be displeased about for sure. Them not delivering GOG keys is something else, and apart from some 'I'm pretty sure they promised it' statements there's no evidence whatsoever they were intending to do that.
FYI, I started the DRM-free download in the morning and it finished without any errors. It took about 30 minutes to download : not bullet fast but fast enough I'd say.

I have had to argue this in Court many times. The product they have provided is the modern day electronic classic of "not fit for purpose". They haven't delivered. It doesn't have to be a gog key. But it has to be fit for purpose and of merchantable/acceptable quality (depending on jurisdiction).

It's one way of shortening a quote… by deleting words...

I'll try again right now. I wish I could download something that size in 30 mins...

I backed TBS on Kickstarter (luckily only at the $10 level) and I'm very disappointed in the way Stoic handled the DRM-free release. First they delayed the DRM-free release for a couple of weeks with no communication or explanation... The DRM-free version was then added to their site with no annoucement for several more days. They also promised a GOG key in one of their updates which they clearly failed to deliver on and again, no communication. I sold my Steam key on eBay for $20 so technically I came out $10 ahead... But due to their horrible handling of this situation, I do not think I will be buying part two..

The game itself was kind of a letdown anyway. The combat system has some very serious flaws and making the currency used to buy supplies and trinkets the same one needed to promote your characters is a very stupid design choice.
From their Kickstarter update #49 (backer only link):

"GOG

The game has been available for a while now on Steam, Gamefly, Gamestop, Humble store, a bunch of other outlets, and as a direct download from our website. We apologize for the difficulties getting the game distributed on some backers top preference. If you'd still like to get the game on GOG, please contact support@vsevil.com and they'll hook you up with a key.

And as always, if you run into technical problems with the game or backer stuff, get in touch at help@stoicstudio.com."
The correct address is @vsevil.net and not .com. I got a reply in less than 48 hours with a GOG.com key. That was cool, I haven't got the time to play it and I'm still wondering if I'll wait for the coming French translation or if I try in English.
