We are shipping the game for Steam first, and the standalone port (on Desura, GOG and Amazon) will be our immediate task after that. Yes, that does mean Steam will get it slightly sooner because we’re already integrated in Steam. However, the game is universal to all backers, so even if you prefer the standalone version you will have access to the Steam version. We don’t see any reason to withhold the game while we convert it to work as a standalone. We are also going to be more quiet between updates as they can take a lot of time to produce.

de_Monteynard: So, we have known for quite a while now that a DRM-free release will come after the original release date. Once more, we will have to wait a while longer, but I personally do not consider that to be a problem. I would rather have a late DRM-free release, than no DRM-free option at all. Plus, since the combat spin-off Factions is an MMO, it is reasonable that their base game is integrated with Steam.
Awesome update :)

They got 7 x goal funded. They had plenty of time. Got to wonder why they didnt have both ready to launch at same time. Makes the drm free backers like myself feel 2nd class

Also I don't understand why DRM-free version takes too much time :S

Thistler: Lol looks like I might have to pre-order this on steam :(. Wanted the extra stuff that comes from pre-ordering and it's 5 bucks off :/
Same here if I wait until Tuesday to find out if it releases here it's too late to get the preorder/bonuses. I think it's safe to say it's not locked in for release here but I'll wait until Sunday.

I hope it doesn't take too long .

I hope too, I just can't wait to start playing it... but also prefer to have it here, without drm...
At least I am sure now I am not doing a big mistake by not pre-ordering it on Steam...

Beware it is very addictive! :D I tried it a week ago, and I am currently not able to play anything else :D
At first, it seems a little unbalanced in terms of ranking (older players can easily smash you, but it is because they know better tactics... Definitely it is not a pay-to-win game, as I was thinking, rather something like Viking chess :D )

Still there is no news about this one :/ It seems we haven't pre-order chance :/
What is the deal with developers and DRM-free playing second fiddle to our One and Almighty Lord Steam? I guess the "well I guess I'll just have to get it day one and support this attitude!" idea having such a strong following certainly doesn't help.
Hope it doesn't take too long to get here ... I backed this during the KS, but there's no way I'm installing Steam. If they make me wait weeks for it I'm gonna be pissed.

It's not fair :/ If it takes weeks , I am sure it's a half-assed release .
My copy's sitting in my inventory. Can't wait!

Ladies and gentlemen, your Steam keys are ready. NOTE: the game is not live until Tuesday. You can pre-load the game now but it cannot be played until Tuesday. We are unable to activate it early.

Please follow these directions:
Go to this address <->
Log in in the upper right if you are not already logged in. (If you don't have account yet, make one with the same information as your Kickstarter login.)
Click "Download game" if it isn't already on the right screen.
You will receive your Steam code.
Open your Steam client (the software, not the website)
Click on "Add a game" on the bottom left, or Games on the top tabs and then "Activate a product on Steam..."
Enter the Key you received from the website (you can cut and paste)
Your copy will begin downloading in your Steam library.
You're ready for Tuesday!

If you have any problems, don't freak out! Contact us with your user name at help@stoicstudio.com and we'll get it fixed. We'll be on-call to fix any issues as soon as possible.

A DRM-free version of the game is under development now and we are still working with GOG to distribute soon. This will also be available to all backers even if you downloaded a Steam copy.

After this we will begin porting the game to platforms other than PC and Mac and keep backers up to date as they become available.

Thanks!
Stoic

** Im keeping my opinion to myself about this, but im really not very happy i will say this though, why didnt they wait til the drm free copy was complete and launched both at the same time?
