RS1978: Seems we don't get the Deluxe Edition with soundtrack. :(

Nergal01: Phooey.

Ah well, you can buy the soundtrack separately on Steam, at least, so I don't have to shell out twice for the game.
You can buy it on bandcamp too: http://austinwintory.bandcamp.com/album/the-banner-saga

Thx, man. :)

I started playing a couple of games, so there is no reason to rush buying full-priced DRM copy. I can wait :). My excitement hasn't decreased, though.

WHats the go with the save system?. No way to save or load at any point?

According to TB's "WTF is..." video on the game, there are no manual saves; presumably, this is to preserve the permanence of the consequences from the choices you make in the game as you progress.

The game basically forces ironman mode on you, and auto saves at any decision point (which come about every 5 minutes).

I usually much prefer to be able to save anywhere but I have to admit that in this case ironman mode makes sense.
79.88% according to gamerankings.com - disappointing? :>
As I've understood the game story adapts on what has happened making the saving and loading the way they've been done makes sense. If that really works well it could increase the re-playability quite a bit, when different characters can die in different battles, making the story flow different from game to game.

Like has been said, the game is semi-ironman, with no manual save. There is a frequent autosave. But the game also keeps saves at major "checkpoints", so you can revert back to an earlier point of the campaign if you want (that often means going back 1 or 2 hours ans several tough battles in the past, though, so I don't do it lightly.)
And for this game, ironman makes sense, really. No complaint here.

The main problem is there is no "profile", just one set of saves. So if you start a new game (to let someone else play it on the same computer, for example), the old game is erased. There has already been some suggestions on the game forum to correct this
Not an ingame solution but the FAQ sticky on the Steam forums lists the save location as well so if someone wants to start a new campaign you could manually copy the save to preserve it.
Honnestly, I read most of the thread, and was seeking information/confirmation about the 8~10 hours palythrough : is that really what I should expect ?

Also, I am a bit late on the subject but the delayed No-Steam version is really disappointing : those devs using the 'drm free version' argument as a marketing tool and not as a software feature, the 'dev reviewing' (or recommandation with a bias) is NOT fine. After being 7x kickstarted, can you be more greedy ?

Dunno. I'm 6 hours in, and still in the middle of chapter 3 (Don't know how many there are. At least 5)
And it's very replayable : While playing, I'm often gritting my teeth and envisionning how I'll do it differently next time to avoid loosing this character, or sending these people to their death.

are you sure it's just a bad luck you keep losing characters and sending people to death? I bet all the playthroughs do have sacrifices...
