Today is a great day, the public beta (demo) of AoD finally arrived!

For those who didn't hear about AoD, it is a turn based crpg in a post-apocalyptic antiquity setting with heavily tactical combats and typical old-school skill checks. ( more info here:

demo here: http://www.irontowerstudio.com/forum/index.php/topic,2488.0.html

To be honest, I'm quite excited. Just downloaded it and hope that it will be as great as promised :)

wow, I've never expected AoD to see the light of a day. Thank you for proving me wrong!

I'll be playing it after this week. I'm just too swamped by work. But yeah I'm really excited for AoD.
I'll believe in its existence when the game will be released.
I hope it will play on my POS.

Nice to see something other than that combat demo!
I am going to try this out, looks very nice!
Just saw it on RPS. I had to read the line a few times to make sure it really did say Age of Decadence.

Here's hoping it lives up to our ridiculous expectations.
Well, forget playing the demo on a netbook, I'll tell you that right now :D.
Tried the demo. Well that was kind of ... Underwhelming. I suppose I'll have to try again with different mindset.
I'm having a massive amount of fun with the demo these last days; tried the assassin and loremaster backgrounds for the moment, and it kills.

The whole "choose your own adventure" aspect is awesome. Punishing combat, ample means to avoid it altogether once you get the hang ot the thing a bit - after dying, failing and dying a bit again - and very atmospheric on the whole.

Will buy this on day one.

Ugh I want to play this so badly, but I simply don't have the time for gaming for the next 2 weeks. D:

Come on Perseverance, you can do it.

Willpower check : failure.
You know you want to play right now. And die within the first five minutes on your first try.

Erich_Zann: snip
Erich is the game hard like Arcanum and Fallout 2?

Well I don't remember Fallout 2 being that hard, except when you got instagibbed by heavy weapons.
With Arcanum the combat difficulty was more a case of bad combat design for me ; the whole "real-time till basically melee range" crap.

So I'd say combat in Age of Decadence is definitely harder (much more punishing at least) than those two. The game really seems to try to encourage non-combat solutions.
This said, as assassin I got whole fights resolved through dialogue : you sometimes get the option to use skills like crossbows or critical strike during a conversation, and if the skillcheck succeeds, instakill.

Yeah, the fight is punishing.
What about the spy quest as assassin, Erich_Zann? I wanted to kill all of them and I had to replay the fight many times.

I tried it too and although it's quite good I hope it get's improved a lot. In some instances you saty in front of one person, during dialogue you can use some skill-check to get better outcome, you get some task and got instantly teleported to another person. You reolve the task with some skill-check there and get teleported to another person. I hope that in full game it won't be so "jumpy."

Also could you or someone else tell me how to do raider and dig-site quests? I seem unable to get there.

Also, when replying to you I noticed you don't have PM button next to your online status. How is taht possible?
