The thing I hate most about games has to do with RTS games. All the units and buildings are so out of proportion, with all the units being more or less the same size(think Starcraft - Battlecruisers should be HUGE, but they're so small in the actual game), and all the buildings are so small. It always seemed so unnatural to me...

So just tell me what you hate most about a particular game or genre, and you can be in to win a copy of Sword of the Samurai .

Rules:

1. If you're in, say you're in. If you're not in, say "Ovary Sandwich" .
2. Minimum rep of 50, but I'll make an exceptions list.
3. Read the OP...
4. You do not talk about Fight Club .
I'm in.

RTS games for me seem to be just "Build as many warriors as you can and swarm" No real strategy to it for me unlike turnbased games. And thank you.
Ovary Sandwich, indie games being too short when you just got into them.
What makes me mad, are the 123437162078360762 survival zombie games that keep popping up with 12367071982630739816 twists.

I just want someone to make a great one, because they all look so good and take my money! It's aggravating, people taking my money! lol

but seriously, what i hate in gaming, is the fact in any game when they say the computer difficulty is "Insane", and no matter what kind of game it is, it's basically cheating for the computer.

For example, when Call of Duty was a good game, their veteran difficulty was basically getting wallhacked and taking 40 shots to the face. Or the old Starcrafts, they just get a huge speed boost and rush the crap out of you.
I'm in!

Alright, I don't like inventory clutter in RPGs. I can turn a blind eye to it in adventure games, but RPGs are all about immersion. Character should carry only one suit of armor, two or three weapons at most, and only the most basic provisions. Everything else should be bought in town to be used on the spot. I thought The Witcher was on the right track with its minimalist weapons & armor inventory, but they ruined it with all the food and ingredients you could carry. The Witcher 2 with its items aptly names "junk" was even worse in that regard.

Like many others around here I hate nowadays when a game is tied to a certain platform.
Be it Steam or Origin or any other platform.

It really pissed me off when I bought Metro 2033 retail not realizing it required Steam to play.
I know it says so on the box, but I bought the game from an e-tailor and just didn't pay attention.

Won't make that mistake again..
Not in but I read Licurg's OP and I'm dizzy trying to imagine the amount of RAM it would take to give all RTS games the correct perspective. XD Jesus can you imagine even something like the old C&C games!? You take the size of everyone's factories and barracks and that would leave the armies a few square millimeters of turf to fight on. XD

I will give kudos to Star Wars Empire at War for using correct perspective on space battles which hands down make it one of the greatest RTS space games of all time and still leaves me in awe every time I play it.
I'm (but I can't blah no rep)

For me it's check points, dear goodness I need quick saves in games(though saving too often is a thing I do to much at times I admit..)

EDIT: In RPGS

OVARY SANDWICH

C&C would be funny as hell to see like that lol

I hate a lack of quicksaves. I mean, I'm currently playing Borderlands 2 and I love it, but I want a quicksave option.

I'm in. I also hate what you hate in games. I see this shit in some Japanese like RPGs too. When you are traveling around the world, the towns and castles are just as big as your character... I also hate that in most games, merchants charge you an arm and a leg for items when you are trying to save the fucking world... "100000000000000 GOLD please"(for this sword you need that you will use to save the world and if you fail, everyone will be forced to suck on Orc and Goblin balls for the rest of their lives). So it's like the merchants rather be greedy to you and suffer a horrible fate than give you a discount or free items and just be extra greedy to everyone else who isn't a hero to make up for it. Why do I hate this? Well it seems very unrealistic to me. It's also just an unpleasant experience. Having to deal with stupid shit bag merchants every time you need more potions, a better sword, a better shield etc. That is one of the reasons why I love Baldur's Gate 2. If your rep is high enough so that most people see you as a hero in the game, they give you a discount. If your rep is low, meaning that most people see you as an evil shit bag, THEN they will overcharge you. If someone is going to risk their life saving the world, that someone shouldn't have to spend so much of their own money for armor, weapons and potions... That is just messed up.

You're in.

The thing I hate most in games (apart from DRM of course) is when you can't save whenever you want to. Checkpoint systems are just unnecessary and they are especially bad when there is a long cutscene after a checkpoint but before the bossfight. And you have to watch that stupid cutscene again and again and again.
Thanks for the giveaway Licurg, but Ovary Sandwich.

That's because AIs suck. Especially in older games but even today you have to spend loads of CPU cycles to get a half decent AI and even then it can't tell its arse from its elbow (see also Civilization games).

So to present more of a challenge it has to cheat. Heck often it's cheating on all but the easiest difficulty but it's more subtle cheating on lower levels.

That would make C&C more bad ass. You would be able to fight battles inside factories and other buildings. And seeing a dozen Soviet Mammoth tanks approaching would make you lose all hope.
