Yet Another Hollywood "Star" thinks they're an International Diplomat...

I know I've said America mustn't go isolationist, and remain active in world affairs, but this is the total proof that they should just STFU and go away :

Who's Sean Penn?

Madonna's ex-husband.

Well if that's his claim to fame, why would anyone care about what he's got to say?

I don't envy them.

We can talk smack whenever we like and not get blasted for it, but as soon as they make a not so illuminating or controversial comment about things, it makes the news and they end up looking stupid in front of a lot of people.

Getting their lives examined under a microscope is not healthy for them or for those that fellow it I think.

He's also an actor and director in his own right. And he has a right to have his own opinions. I disagree with him with regard to the Falklands, but I respect that he cares about the world around him, and raises his voice. I respect that a lot more than the complete political ignorance that many other celebrities exhibit.

He HAS been in a bunch of films like Calito's Way, the Thin Red Line etc:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000576/
But I still don't think that qualifies him to comment on British foreign policy, he's just some crazy old guy 'reackoning' stuff if you ask me!

Edit - mildy Ninja'd by Psyringe there but I included the IMDB link so I still feel justified - added value!

Wasn't he Number Two?
Three?
Beatty, Penn, and then I lost track .... there was someone else, then that "Lock, Stock" director guy...who's next on Madonna's bedpost?!

Edit : O lost == I lost

I love the irony of his statement: "colonialist, ludicrous and archaic."

Yeah fuck democracy and self-determination - islands should belong to whom I believe they should belong. Moron.

Part of the Argentinian claim is they bought them from Spain... Shame Spain had no right to them by then >.>
I agree - how dare film stars to have any political toughs, even worse to say so publicly.

The whole "right" to the Americas adds another level or irony to the whole 'debate'.
"I conquered this place before you. You have NO RIGHT to conquer it from me!"
Let me guess the whole thing was legitimised by the sale of the land.
His entire argument is nothing but a logical fallacy.

It's not that he's voicing political views it's that he's dumb enough not to research them he's even trying to claim they really want to be away from the UK but are too scared by us to admit it *facepalm*

Not saying he can't have any, but it's his duty to research what he's saying in a public forum, especially when he has a certain status due to his job....

Not just be a shill mouthpiece for a corrupt and ludicrous nation that is only after the oil recently discov....oh wait.....

But is anyone surprised? The man has always been on the far left and it is not the first time he is outspoken.

- Can he do more research? Sure? So far I think anyone in this situation can. The media is portering it extremely polarised, but reality is never black and white so...
- Does he speak his beliefs? I think so, and I think he should be allowed to do so.
