Thanks Disney for ramming your morals down our throats. I mean that black doll, blond white doll and old doll that danced in a strange way would have made our children grow up with totally wrong morals. Probably would have started riots with offended citizens too.

What would parents do without Disney and others taking it upon themselves to be Moral Police and teaching us how to bring our children up?

THE most important Christmas event for families in Sweden is watching a medley of Disney classics and some new ones. Suddenly Disney decided that what's been airing here for ages is racist so they promptly cut it.

What were they exactly?

Three dolls in "Santas Workshop". I don't know where it's from but it's the central piece of the lot. A old cartoon.

Yeah, having lived in Sweden for a couple of years as a child, I do remember that the Christmas TV schedule was a big thing - and that exactly the same thing was broadcast each year as a tradition.

The cartoon in question is from 1935. To put it kindly, their portrayal of American minorities is, shall we say, dated.

I don't see where's the problem... They removed the doll's appearence because it's now regarded as potentially offensive...

Same way tintin in the congo couldn't possibly get released nowadays without massive protest and without offensing people...

I understand why people could see it as offensive and I believe their choice to remove it is wise.

That's the cartoon.

It's from an age with totally different looks on things. That age is so far away and our education system and society have loong ago "purged" that from us that there's not a chance that this would affect more than say 0,0001% of the population.
This is our tradition Disney. Don't mess with it because YOU suddenly thinks it's wrong.

We also don't know if they made the decision unilaterally or if they had received feedback from viewers indicating displeasure.

Edit: I'm not trying to be an apologist for Disney. Just saying they may not have just made this decision on their own internally.
