Same. It doesn't look like it's going to have any trouble getting funded so I'll pass for now.
Right, here's their latest response:
If Steam picks us up then it will have whatever DRM Steam applies to it.
There we go.

Making it sound like they don't plan any other kind of release if they get picked up by Steam. Gah.
Bummer. That's quite a fall from the high after the KS went up, eh? To think I was seriously considering that 750$ tier for a second (well, not really, that was a very short second, but hey... how's 'Steam just saved me 750$' for a slogan)

Ouch... they won't get more than $15 from me, then. Very disappointing.

That's their response to me over Kickstarter's PM.

I would guess it's in a response to a PM.

EDIT: Aw man, ninja'd.

Ah ok.. that's disappointing... I asked them the same question and got the usual "will be DRM-free in that once you purchase the game you will be able to download it to any supported device" answer.

I hope it just mean that don't really knows what DRM-free really means and that it's still possible to convince them to release a real DRM-free version.

It would be really disappointing for me if one of the KS I anticipated the most end up being the one I pledge the less if at all :(
I've asked Chris Jones & Aaron Conners via Kickstarter PM about releasing on GOG instead of Steam, since the other Tex Murphy games are already on GOG and they would get more support on Kickstarter if the release was DRM free (at least they would get my support). This is their response via PM:

"Sorry to disappoint you with this, however we just had a meeting with the programmers and we stand by this decision. However, we will speak to GOG about releasing the game in future years entirely DRM free."

So, I'll buy the game in future years, when it is available on GOG.
I can't believe that something as trivial as a moderate DRM system means people will go from backing hundreds of dollars and thinking this is the best thing ever to not backing at all. That is so disappointing.

This is our chance to get a new Tex Murphy game. I mean, this is it. The last chance we'll ever have. It's now or never.

I'll put in $15 if it doesn't meet it's funding goal, but c'mon. It obviously will.

Thanks for posting this. I'll also buy if/when it comes to GOG.

Zeewolf: ...
A KS campaigns is basically giving them money for the hope of someday maybe having a game in return and some trinkets, it's fine, I am happy to take this risk, and I did it multiple times.

But in the other side I think the minimum you can expect in return is at least that they offer the game DRM-free... especially as all the other big recent big KS did it.
Latest update: looks like it may not even come to GOG.
Thanks for your continued feedback. We will speak to GOG about releasing our game entirely DRM free in the future, however we plan on supporting cloud saves, and without any login credentials at all that feature would be lost. We haven't heard of GamersGate, however we will look into that as a possible distributor.
o_O

I can definitely still respect the decision to back this, but for me, I'll pass.

In their latest response to me, Chris/Aaron also indicated that they're actively monitoring forum threads, so I guess they're reading this one too.
